Layshaft bearing failure

yeah going to drop it back off at the mechanic tomorrow morning just wanted to see if this was a chain reaction and i have to replace more worn parts or was something the mechanic did or didn't do. Hoping it was his fault and a free fix, just wanted to have a clear understanding of what the problem is but seems like it needs to be opened up again. I don't think he drove test rode it after the initial fix, because when i brought it right back he asked me to kick it over for him( he's a bit old) so glad to know the comment ride it slow and let resettle in is BS excuse for I don't feel like dealing with this now. thanks! earlier in this thread there was reference made to and a web page listed for CNW and I had a look at the sleeve gear bearing they have a photo of.
When compared to the one on my sleeve gear it would seem I have one more ball than CNW shows. I count nine on mine and eight on the SKF RLP-9 at CNW.
Is the original bearing, in my case from SKF Gt Britain, exactly the same as the one CNW shows and their picture just funky?
Anybody know if the bearings are available with differing ball counts or is eight balls the only one available today?
As usual I'm all questions and all ears too.
Thanks for any reply.
All the best.

Not to get off the ball vs rollerbearing topic but I just replaced my bearing with the Andover ball that Fred from Old Britts stands by.

Exactly which layshaft bearing is fitted? As the "Andover" bearing is a roller not a ball.

Does that mean that this "kit".... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Noron-Gearbo ... 46143a4914 .... will have a roller bearing as a standard item.. :? :? :?
