Fast Eddie, It is beautifully written and one of my favourite books. His other book 'The Mint' chronicling his time serving in the Royal Air Force, under the assumed name of Aircraftsman Shaw, is a good read and the excerpt where he races a Vickers Bi-plane on his Brough is a splendid and much quoted and loved excerpt. It is not recorded how he preserved his anonymity while owning a motorcycle worth considerably more than a house for a working man! There is a good docu-drama available free on YouTube titled; 'Lawrence of Arabia: The Battle For the Arab World', it's nearly 2 hours long but well worth a watch.Seven Pillars is not an easy read.
I got kinda hooked and have read every book about TEL I can find! IMO the best (by far) is - Hero: The life and times of Lawrence of Arabia by Michael Korda. This one is genuinely difficult to put down !
Although David Leans 1962 film is still my favourite film of all time, reading the real life accounts makes you realise how poor the storyline is and that actually, the real story is FAR more wild and adventurous.
