Slowly going through failure.on.top.of.failures - feeling pretty scuffed with one legal car running good and one non tagged work PU so after days of homestead logging-hauling, deck prep & spraying with a break to .22 pistola Armadillo that knocks shop stuff down, tried to remove 10.5 hp vertical shaft Tecumseh engine that threw a rod within 10 ft of just getting it started after getting a bad wire fixed to run again on a tow behind deck... Engine is trash to me and poor reputation to point Tecumseh out of business though parts still being offered for some.

Shaft goes down through welded on plate with a pulley on end and a hard to access nut on shaft end holding pulley on. Just got to lock crank to remove nut-pulley and done *** but broken rod allows engine to turn w/o moving the piston to block it with something like a AA battery in the chamber. v-Belt slips engine turns on force to turn nut. I tried to bang piston back into rod with a drift and 3 lb sludge but failed - no motion at all.
I just want engine off not be a tedious mechanic taking apart another dam engine for nothing so what would you do? What will I do?

BTW after failing to get mower engine off - started PU with tools in it to do something useful on recovering wear-tear-storm damage on house while still day light >> got few dozen yds and it instantly died like key off and do not know where to start next for more let downs.

Ugh I can only blow away so much steam and lame horses. Being Commando mystery trained I found PU had compression and feul , had power into distributor but no spark at plugs, found tach wire out gave constant light not blinking tach pulses so hope just HEI module or coil contact I can do myself. I got video - sort of - as 1st cordless driller jammed then the well traveled camera, then its old battery so missed all crankshaft fixing punches of Navy Seal.45 Super +++P but got a still photo of mower bleeding to death locked up solid. Turns out when I put head under mower mount more with better light I saw a cut out to lift pulley out attached so wasted ammo except for the pure satisfaction. Nothing to ride for most a year - do not beat wives, so once in a while risk letting loose combat rifle level power with updated vintage stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.45_Super

Do not want another Tecumseh that went poopoo for a reason, so new hunt on what fits back easy.

When U say "died like someone turned off the switch" reminds me of the time my old farm PU did so ... while going down the road. I thought "just like someone turned off the switch .... " So I reached down and jiggled the key, and instantly came back to life. A new switch was the solution .... maybe for U as well.

Shoot first and ask questions later, with a few .45 slugs in it, it is way past any form of life support

Talk about making it get more air into the motor

Trying to make fun of purposeless life. I shoot a lot of non living things so did not think regular or +P .45 would get in and deform like the super version which in a solid flat cone semi-wad cuter shape. I do not expect to ever use gun as people defense and these rds are literally go to war power so gradually using em up during my life time as like if shot 100 rd the all steel officers model frame would beat up stops and then barrel explode.

PU truck solved but took all yesterday testing HEI Ign with wife bargaining to trun key then ride to parts (*car out the blue* stalled twice to side of road before going again) then back install crossing fingers it fired right up. Whew, Oh yeah near dusk stuff under steering wheel to reach fuse box a momma mouse scampered down my arm in front of my face into the seat. Car died again today in twon on no throttle coasting & semi over my head to check so more time out at auto mechanic Fri. before stuck somewhere cell ph useless. With PU running decided to install a tach waiting for couple decades so while under dash a baby pinky mouse fell out so tossed to our ducks and buy more poison treats and moth balls.

So after both mower engines arrive and installed I can use the zero turn to work around creek and tree with tow behind following perfectly so almost 8 ft wide passes to give some time to attend 4 dead but not broken cycles.
Grass is car hood high now.

Still have not found vertical shaft replacement engine for this tow behind but did get back Kohler Magmum 18 hp twin for main mower but its special shape header/muffler to fit in mower body has decayed to rust dust and is no longer available so hauled back one of 3 trashy Magaum18s I left at metal scraper friends to try and remove the bolted on rust fused exht manifolds that allow thread water pipe headers to fit on engine rather than factory thin flanges. I will try the extreme heat and wrench straining methods first but think I may have to dissect that part off the cast iron block off to remove the metal the bolts are fused into, so do not know if should use .308 lead ball military ammo or .223 SS109 with hardened steel slug inside that is proven to perice kevlar helmets better than 308 at 700 yds. I have some solid hardened black tip 30.06 armor piercing rounds that would work but nothing to fire those with on hand. I plan to mount a used Peashooter along side of mower body.

Ah the plans of mice and men... what could go wrong. Best views of the piston/valve face chewed a nice arc free hand but missed switching video on so only the 2nd cutting at 90* to the first magazine got recorded. Guess i got too shaken to hold still enough after a piece hit forehead. Final result is just more tools to clean up so off to retrieve another engine block and attack by normal impact tool as this block has slotted bolts.

Naw its pretty common in any country w/o red white blue in their flags and youtube has abundant gun tests right outside of homes to enjoy the various lanuages beside broken English narrating. I am low level user and aim compared to the locals that can shoot a pill tossed in the air let along drop elk on next Mt ridge and attend all sorts of shooting contests. Btw ya see how mower upper deck is hung from rathers, well gues what caliber made the hole in the foot plate metal for bolt to fasten cabes too...

Get rid of the lawn mowers & get some meat sheep , When you shoot them , you eat well .

UGh goats do better on our grass and weeds and with Peel crash cage- can just the young tender ones down.
I have another block with penetrating oil soaking in after a good 1st heating the made the oil above boil so if allen wrench on hand impactor does not work as hoped - i will have to back off 30 yd so the scope sight is accurate and pick away with slow aim shots. I have cut defunct gas pipe stick up in pasture and drive way that would of required digging and hacking or torching to cut back below ground level but just a few min fun putting enough holes close together could just bent to break off. Had 45 ft of propane steel pipe 4 ft down in narrow ditch that I used .22 revoler to cut the bigger roots out the way so could just hand jerk out and then the long pipe would just bucket to lift so got out the shorty tanker version of M14-battle rifle with the 8 shot clip that cling and flips out on last shot, and cut it into 8 ft easy to handle sections. I saw writing on the wall that ammo would someday be restricted, like .22 just not around anymore but have life time supply to use up before I quit it here. I like the video of over head limbs saw dust-chip raining down on me then one more shot and limb lands on me, a dumb but handy hillbilly.

I almost never travel armed but my best buddy does when we leave the state and so do most the bikers I speak with
