Hi,

I have rearsets now on a 73 750 and i also have big feet. The kickstarter is begining to be a pain during normal riding as its hitting my shin and i have to navigate around it to change gears sometimes. Wondering if anyone has installed a different kickstarter to get it out of the way properly. I have adjusted as much as i can with the gear shift extension tie rod leaving just enough space for the kick lever to clear the shifter.

Cheers

I had the same problem, but solved it by taking the kick start lever off and rotating it forward (clockwise) 1-2 splines.

That is a good way to crack the ratchet by bottoming it out since it can't travel as far down, relative to where it would be on a normal kick.

As Im not to fussy I laid mine over backwards ,still starts alright, most of the time, on 1/2a kick, looks ugly though

I get a full swing to the bottom, and has been good like this for 25 years. I plan on opening it up in this winter, will look at that then. Thanks for the heads up.

I have the same issue. Wonder if that Trident-type folding kick lever is the solution?

It may work for a reversed gear lever set up, but not for a linkage type :(

I picked this up recently - sold to me as a "competition folding kickstart lever" for ALL Norton Commando 750/850s. But it doesn't fit a MK3 with rear sets.

Probably good for all right hand shift bikes though.

Also perfect for linkage types that do not wrap around the kickstart. This will require them being positioned a little further back I think. I haven't done this yet, but intend to!
