Hey all,
I'm fix'n to deal with a dribble from the kicker shaft and have seen 2 different parts being used (3 if you include the factory orings) .
SKF 9815 and Timken 240731 what's the difference between them? Is there a preference?
Thanks,
Mike

Not sure of part number but I replaced my seal with an X cross section seal...which came as part of the GB rebuild kit from Mick Hemmings. Seems to be holding ok after a couple of hundred miles so far.

Gearguy, the 9815 goes in place of the factory oring correct??? No machine work to case, just remove bushing, install seal in place of oring, replace bushing?

When you reset the outer cover in place, regardless of which seal you use, wrap the kicker shaft splines in masking tape to protect the seal or it won't matter which one you use. I replaced the original o-ring seal in the Titanic with the updated x-ring type, but neglected to cover the splines, so it leaked anyway. Second time, with the SKF seal, I taped he splines and no leakage now.
