Hi Gent
With the rear sets i have using loop over style gear lever extending out the kick start with the later Mk lll design gives me a problem... but i do like the detent arrangement within the lever pedal
So is it possible to use the MKlll lever pedal 06-6398 on the pre MKlll kick start lever 06-1055. i know that the shaft will need to be drilled

Thanks

It's not that difficult to convert the older kick start lever. I did mine a long time ago. All you need is a small spring, a ball bearing and a drill. Take the pedal off and drill into it along it's length from the end that fits on the lever. The hole needs to be a clearance fit for the ball bearing and spring, and deep enough that a bit of the spring is sticking out. Then just use a drill to make a detent in kickstart shaft for the ball to rest in when kickstart is folded in. Bit of grease when you assemble it and there you go.

Thanks Ian, i need to buy a lever pedal as i don't have one, do you know if the Mklll will fit onto the earlier kick start??

What is the problem with the Mk3 kicker and the shifter loop? I have used both a Mk2 and Mk3 kicker fine with a couple different loop over shifters just fine.

I haven't yet finished or ridden the bike, but when i sit astride in the garage with my UK size 13 boots the side of my boot rubs heavily against the Pre MkIII kick start lever.... i have tried moving it to various different splines & yes it may be perfectly OK when i actually ride it.
I wanted to fit a T160 lever, but i know that wont work with the rear sets. so i then though i would use a MkIII lever... but this brings the lever even closer to the gear change loop. (for extra silencer clearance it protrudes out further than the pre MkIII by just under an inch)
So i have decided to stick with the pre MkIII lever... but my lever is minus the lever pedal on the top so i need to replace & i like the detent to help stop it turning

I have the poor mans detent, spring washer between nut and pedal, nut drilled for a split pin. Kick start Question
