Kick start assembly question

Things came to a screeching halt on the assembly of my gear box. My understanding is that the kick start spring hole should not be at the 12 o'clock position as I have assembled it.
I believe that the spring hole should be about 45 degrees counter clockwise to it's current location.
What assembly mistake did I make here?

Thanks

Yes
This is a reassembly after being one tooth off on the shift quadrant. It was correct before I took it apart.
Thank you

Ok, as I was thinking if it was a new part then it could be an early Dominator shaft but if it was correct when previously fitted I can only think the head of the shaft is the wrong side of the stop plate.

It looked correct going together.
Excuse me, I'm not understanding what your statement; "the head of the shaft is the wrong side of the stop plate"
So, apart it comes..............
Thanks Lab

Hello
Inner cover removed.
1st picture is of inner cover (inside) with the kickstart mechanism rotated to the stop.
2nd picture is of the spring hole at the 12 0'clock position in the same position as above.
The pin and hole positions of my kickstart match that of the Andover part.
Did I take a perfectly fine gear box apart? What am I missing please?
Thanks again.

Positive it's not a Dominator shaft. Yes, mine has two holes.
The one closest to the splines is threaded and I didn't think it for a spring.
All good now.
Thank you again, LAB
