The 300090 is still cruising just fine ~ ever since I had the dramas with the low tension wiring, TWO ywars ago now ~ the beast has been 100% reliable.. runs on fuel which has been standing for any amount of time ~ so I never have to consider whether I am mixing into old fuel stocks as I HAD to do previously .. the thing goes first kick at half mast ~

A perfect Commando ~

As for my opinion:

There is NOTHING wrong with that bike!!!!

Who on earth could have a problem with a bike that looks that nice, AND RUNS LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO?!

"Sometimes, ONE is enough".

Congratulations, Stuart! The bike looks great, and it sounds like it runs as good as it looks. I remember when you were working through those troubles with it.

Enjoy,

Debby

nice but something here is quite wrong - you better check to make sure it has oil in it - i don't see the black pool under the engine that ensures the motor is lubricated

don't see the black pool under the engine that ensures the motor is lubricated
 :D :D :D :D

Mate~ Part of my struggles was with severe misting and of course deposits onthe floor ~

BUT as I have stated previously ~ since I rigged up a Positive control ventilation valve from a six cylinder car engine, the internal engine compression has been relieved , thus the build up of pressures and subsequentially misting & leaks reduced dramatically !

Has worked for me .. just fine !

I beleive the only oil misting I get is from that &^* primary cover and the gearbox ~

Thanks for the positive comments ..

did the same 4 my commando - but used a PCV valve for a yamahaha
works good too, only down to 1/2 a cup a week (kidding) - still a few drops though but nothing major -think mine are coming from oil tank lines.... damn those oil in motors are great sometimes!

here is my bike w/ my Laverda in background

Mike

That is sure a sweet pair in hand !!

Thats a triple Laverda...(?) `0` even better ... !!

VERY TASTY ~

Mike,

(or anybody who knows)

Can you give me any info on the seat that you've got on your norton? I remember seeing something about a similar seat somewhere but a cant recall where.

Edit: Looks like the seat sold by old brits, but yours has a more even stitch pattern like i like better

laverda -
yes a triple

Mike

FYI

'Snibor' who is a low profile member on site, has a MKII Commando and a Laverda triple ~ ( but he also has an 75X, a T150TT, and a BSA A65L . ) 8)

But FYI he just fitted a Tri-Spark ignition which he is rather pleased with ~ 8)

Well
It seems I jinxed my self to a minor degree though herein ~

I took # 300090 out for trot on Weds and the bike started to run like Crap !!

Low revs ~ it ran absolute terrible ~ high revs not so bad....

I was invited by a young bloke to take the bike for a viewing by his Dad , who was a huge Norton fan .. but by the time I went to a local motor parts store I had enough and " headed for the shed"

And to add insult the Zorst started backfiring and babbling ~

I pulled up in the garage and slide down to see what I could find!!

Any takers ? >>>>>>

The balance tube had come off @@@!!!!

As for the zorst ~ the LH header had started to leak again ~

As the bike was well warmed ~ I decided to re-tune anyway ~

So a half hour later the beast is ready to rock and roll again ~
