I’m running a Joe hunt magneto and looking at spares as I’ve developed a misfire I’ve checked everything and one side has a stronger spark than the other when you pull the HT leads away from the back of the mag and believe it’s the coil as I’ve changed the points and condensor plus when you swap the leads over on the mag the misfire transfers over to the other cylinder.
My questions are what are the differences between the red and black coils and are they any uk suppliers for them?

Cheers
Brian

I get all my Joe Hunt spares from Joe Hunt themselves order what you need on line and be at your door in a less than 2 weeks with snail mail, pay extra for quicker delivery, but snail mails you just got to think a head, I think the red coils is for the older 2 rare earth Joe Hunts and the black coil is for the modern 4 rare earth Joe Hunt magneto as I have had both the older JH on my Triumph that had the red coil and my Norton with the 4 rare earth JH has the black coil.
I have sent over for 2 spare front covers and have 3 spare tune up kits for my JH, but after 15 years they are still in the spare parts cabinet, I had to replace a cover and condenser from a slide down the road, I am in Australia, JH are good to deal with, have never had any problems ordering my parts and a lot cheaper than buying my part from here, a lot of older Harley shops might have JH parts.

I have a brand new behind the block Joe Hunt mag for sale if it’s of any interest to you Brian ?
