Any news about Joe Hunt Magnetos?

AFAIK they are. Jim Schmidt, (JS Motor Sports) is a dealer. I talked with him recently regarding JH mags, .... he did not indicate any supply problem.

I have to order a tune up kit soon so will find out as I deal straight through JH, my last tune up kit I gave it to a mate who's JH needed it badly, 20 years running without new points or condenser not bad.

Just had a email from Joe Hunt and my order has been shipped and is on its way, and thank you and look forward to more business in the future, so seems Joe Hunt is still going strong, maybe they closed down over the Xmas break as Lot of businesses do.

I mentioned on another recent thread that I placed an order (new condenser) and it seemingly hadn't budged in a couple weeks, and no response from them when emailed about it (their website took my money with no snags).

It took another week for the order to ship, but it finally did go.

Seems like a small shop, but three weeks to get a thumb sized part into the mail is a bit baffling.

Depends when you ordered I know a lot of places close down over the Xmas break so whether you got them at a bad time, maybe busy but when you order online you get a auto comfirmation order number straight back from placing the order and then will email you when shipped with a tracking number, I paid the extra for express post, last time I ordered parts took 9 days to get to Aus by normal post, so will see how long it takes by express post.
I have never had any problems dealing directly with JH but I brought my Norton JH from Lowbrows was $20 cheaper than JH, but that was over 12 years ago now.

November 9th. If that's the start of a Christmas break, I want to work there!

As much as I like the product, the lack of communication is not a great thing, be it email, phone calls, etc.

Well I have had no problems at all and I am over the other side of the world so can't complain about the service I have had from JH.

I just had my tune up kits and spare cover delivered today so all ready when I need to use them.

Me neither, especially if yiu get one with the retard lever, just to protect the sprag clutch.

My mate fitted one to his Alton equipped 750 and says it starts instantly.

With a JH and a ES would work so well together a big spark will always fire up as you touch the button no matter what, even without the retard lever once set right they don't kick back, in over 12 years mine only kicked back when I was first tuning it after the install and hasn't kicked back since on full advance, I don't understand why everyone makes a big deal with kick back once tuned right they don't kick back, it's like any ignition system once tuned right no kick back at all, set at 28 degree static timing and if it does have any KB just retard the adjustment ever so slightly till no KB same as with any ignition systems.
Once set they stay set only readjust when new point's being fitted but after over 12 years and over 35k miles I haven't touched the point's in my JH, still starts on first kick and is running great I leave it alone, just pull the front cover off when doing a oil change to inspect the point's and a few drops of STP on the flet pad for the point's cam.
I have 2 tune up kits in my part cabinet when needed and probably out last me before I use both sets.
