Well after having to take a little hiatus from completing my 74 Norton, it is done. It has been a long road and a lot of learning along the way but at no time did
this build become a burden. I have never built a motorcycle from a frame off starting point and with the help of many, I was able to finally complete it to my satisfaction.
Matt and Gary at CNW were and are a invaluable resource of knowledge and patience in this build. Brent Budgor at the "Vintage Vendor" is simply the best at paintwork, bar none. The bike is comprised mostly of CNW engineering and parts. There were many
here who contributed here on Access Norton in the way of expertise that I could get from nowhere else. Thanks guys.

The break in period has begun and I will pay due diligence to the prescribed procedure as this Norton deserves nothing less. It rides like a dream and with the exception of some
fine tweeks, its a "Rider." I also bought a new 2013 AV Agusta F4 as a counterpart to the Norton. These two fine pieces of motorcycle art are admirable in there own unique ways.
I plan on riding the Norton often as it was meant to be on the road and enjoyed. Once again, thanks Matt & Gary, you guys are without equal.

Right on! Ride it like you stole it!

I know it isn't cool to ask, but...did you keep receipts?

I enjoyed looking at the photos for various details but I really enjoyed seeing how the gray/silver frame turned out since I painted mine similarly!

"I know it isn't cool to ask, but...did you keep receipts?"

Of course you keep the receipts, you just never add them all up,lol.

Nice bike dude, ditto about Matt and Gary

Russ,

Thanks for the nice words. Yes, I did keep all the receipts and all the old parts.
The frame is a dove grey powder coat and is conservative but fits well the color scheme.
Now I just have to plan my next ride.

Cheers,

W.

That thing is awesome.

One tip though make sure the ss braid lines have plastic coating if they don't then they rub anything like the fork or whatever the ss braid becomes a saw pretty quick!

Super nice looking man, don't leave it in that Vegas sun either!!!

You have done a great job, now get out there and ride it, it needs some road grime on it  the frame colour looks good, you should be very proud of what you have done, now enjoy it for as long as you can, ride safe and take care.

Skyguyz,

I'm fairly new here on Access Norton, but I bought a 1975 MKIII that I want to restore similar to what you did here. I owned the same bike back in 75 so it has a lot of sentimental value.

I saw this post and went back and read your build thread and I must say this is one of the best builds I have seen. You should be very proud of this bike.

I will use your thread as a guide for my build. I want to do the CN dash and triple trees and some of the other CN components, but will do the frame, tank and side covers stock colors (not to say your choices don't look great, I just like the stock look).

My engine was rebuilt about 1000 miles ago so will not do the full engine works, but I have added a Mikuni Flat Slide carb and will upgrade the Boyer ignition.

Thanks so much for the awesome build thread and enjoy that beautiful bike.

Dennis

Beautiful bike. I think you will find that it is more comfortable for long rides than the F4. Nothing against the F4, but my friend, who also rides Nortons, has one, and says as good as it is in the canyons, it's not so comfortable for long rides.

No worries, they are plastic coated. The look good with the silver barrels, etc.

Thanks Dennis. It was a long road but it was well worth it. Lots of trials and error, but the end result is well worth it.

Cheers,

Ken,

Yes the F4 is not a cruiser at all. It is a 45 min max ride machine. The adrenaline you get is beyond what you may expect though. I picked it up new near Sacramento California and had a 2 day ride over the Sierras and through Death Valley to Las Vegas. It was truly one of the most incredible things I have done in my lifetime. I had many rest stops and was a bit sore but in the end a experience I'll never forget.

Hijack thread creep here:

*9000 feet in the Sierras in June!

Rest stop # 9

IT'S DONE......

Death Valley in the morning. 14,000 RPM 180 MPH capable...Whats not to like? (Actually I was limited to 6500 RPM during the break in period. But in 6th gear thats a "Buck 30" fast, all day.

*Mono lake just before sunset. Quite a view during the ride.
