It's back

So after being without my bike since the blowup last fall I decided I had to do something. Parts and time to build the new billet motor have been slow in coming so yesterday I went at it and installed the 914 stroker motor that I had planned on running as a twingle. I installed a regular WC 12a cam and put it in my bike.
The first 50 miles really felt good. No indications of trouble.

My daughter on her FJ and I are heading out for a little longer ride shortly.

Then I will have to put it away for a bit and head out for Iowa. My brothers cancer caught up with him and we lost him yesterday. Jim

Jim, very sorry to hear about your brother. I lost a sister (age 42) to cancer. Also lost my best friend to stomach cancer last year.

My sincere condolences for your loss, Jim. I lost both of my sisters to breast cancer and even after 25 years, I still grieve for them. All I can do these days, is try to remember the happy times.

Delighted to hear there is fire in the hole(s) again. Eager to hear some updates on drivability and performance as time allows.

So, on one hand elation to be back on the road, and on the other the devastating news of losing your brother. I guess that's why life is bittersweet.

Well I have a little over 200 miles on it now. It is noticeably stronger from 4000 to 6200 and then it flattens out. The higher RPM may come back with a little time to loosen up and some injection tuning. Of course revving it like I did the old motor may not be such a good idea with the small crank journals.

About what I expected with a little softer cam [radius lifters on the 12a] and 35 more cc's. Jim
