INTERVIEW WITH JOHN RUSSELL

Thanks for posting.

Looks like Russell talks about various engine designs sold off to the Chinese, and that he sees value in a Commando Electric Vehicle.
That may seal the fate of the 961, without saying as much.

Interesting. With Simon Skinner still a part of the Norton team, maybe we'll see him again here on the forum.

Ken

pity there wasn’t more about the next model they will actually sell, but too early for that. Meanwhile, it’s the first time I have heard anyone connected to the company talk about an overview of properly resourced production processes and organization in relation to Norton... very long overdue!!

Is it just me , Garner working as a consultant cannot be good news!!

“Any association that he has with us is consultative and based on the transition out of the old arrangement“

Sounds just like a short term, temporary, handover agreement to me.

What exactly is meant by transition ? Does it mean he will be helping locate stolen parts from stripped bikes ? The guy is an out and out liar , and they're going to trust him? He's going to hoodwink the new temporary CEO and get paid for doing it. Stuart Garner is a con man Nigel , would you trust him after all that's been revealed?

Just a reminder what SG was saying a few years ago.

No I don’t trust him at all Jimmy!

I suspect, and hope, that what it’s really means is that he’s on hand to answer any questions that come up whilst they’re unravelling the can of worms.

I think a company the size of TVS will work thyIs out. But we shall see...

Exactly, the new company and its officers must know where the bodies are buried, so there will be no surprises pending.
Normal procedure when a company changes hands.
Just hope that the new folks count their fingers after shaking SG's hand.

The term "ethical business" and the name of SG do not fit in the same article.
I hope for the best, but I get an eerie feeling that this again is a lot of hot air, and the idea of an electric Norton makes me cringe.
Just sayin'.

It's clear SG is just there to insure that the new owners can have continuity in operation.
He is not going to be apart of the effort going forward once TVS has fully gain control of all aspects of the operation.

An electric Norton doesn't bother me so much, as it is inevitable for the entire industry.
However, the connotation of an electric Commando does make me a bit sad.
It's perhaps the kiss-off to the 961.

Electric HAS to come, though interesting to see which (if any) end of the market they go for. There are some awesome electric machines out there...
Though of course if 'volume' matters, surely the 'Electra' moniker begs consideration?

In my experience anyone who's earned 3 million airmiles with American Airlines has to be one of the following:

A Pilot (he aint I guess)
A corpse (again he aint (I hope))
Extremely easy going ( i.e. will put up with anything including rudeness, very cramped seating, shite food virtually thrown at you (for example))
Is a glutton for punishment.
Doesn't need to be anywhere on time.
Stupid.
Definitely deserves a congressional medal.

So SG, will probably have him wrapped around his little finger shortly.

But overall, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for 961 owners.

"..anyone who's earned 3 million airmiles with American Airlines has to be:"
possibly deathly afraid of spending time with his spouse/family.

I was the purchasing bod in a company with several of these laptop warriors, one of them had a mobile monthly phone bill higher than his salary, it was mainly data charges. Never saw his travel bill, but it must have been ever higher. That was after I had done a deal with Orange for lower bills, they were even higher before. He was registered on every loyalty scheme from the airlines and did very well.

I hope John Russell does well, but using Stuart ebay selloff Garner and employing Skinner does not get him off to a good start. I would have risked sinking without them, but I know of several instances where 'unreplaceable' people left and 6 months later when you looked back you wondered what they ever did.

I think the rotary is more suited to run an elec gen package, nothing new in that though.

I hope Russell sucks out every molecule of pertinent info from SG, and then shows him the door.
If TVS makes good on reviving Norton, SG will be just a distant memory (night terror) in the darkest recesses of our minds.

SG has a new venture.
