Just watched this new interview with John Russell:

Sounds as if things are indeed progressing at a pace at the new Norton, also interesting to learn of a last 961 Commando run, news that the Superlight is not necessarily dead, racing and plans going forward etc.
All appears promising and well founded. Fingers crossed.

A very good interview IMO.

Key phrase when talking about future range “other versions of a V4 engined bike”...

Naked V4 perhaps ... come on John ... you know it makes sense ... !

More likely a 1000cc homologated version based on the 'Get back Racing' comment ;)

Great Interview ! Is it possible that the 2021 Commando's will have improvements that can filter down to us ?

The Commando they will be building will a celebration of the end of the line for them, JR's words, so I doubt any improvements.

In a word... no.

Think of it more as a way of using up the parts already ‘in the system’.

Plus, of course, a ’special‘ badge for the top yoke...!

Other than not fitting fake sensors etc there will be no product development for 40 bikes they will lose money making. Parts bin clearance only.

Good interview.

Commando 961s to be produced are an "end of series"
Commando "will be reborn in the future, but could be very different to the Commando we are saying goodbye to"

Very interesting.

If I'm paying a premium price, then the accessories should come with it.
Good interview, but more holes than the UK road network. Just how are they going racing on premium priced bikes, I'm pretty sure it is an offence to knowingly trade whilst insolvent in the UK, with premium bikes that will always be the case. Remember, they are a subsidiary of TVS not TVS, and will audited as such.
They need to make bikes to establish themselves then in years to come try racing. Small steps first would be a wise start.

Exactly what I think.
Racing is not about to go out of style anytime some.
Make haste slowly.
Get Norton back into the black financially first, then piss away money racing.

Go look at Triumph's website... Accessories are a big part of the marketing now:

'The New Street Twin In Numbers' : 900cc 60ps 80nm 140+ Accessories'

2021 sees Euro 5 regs, which AFAIK will rule out 961, so better sell them quick, or pre register them??

Anyone else horrified by the prospect of the government banning the sale of petrol. This is happening all too quickly.
Have the people in charge thought this through!

I don’t think any governments are currently openly talking about banning the sale of petrol are they?

What some are doing is talking about banning the sale of new petrol engined vehicles.

And no, they most certainly have NOT thought it through !

The dates established to end the sale of petro vehicles is a political tool for governments to force manufacturers to seriously start designing equipment for what will be a world without petro vehicles.
Governments have been forced to do this by political/environmental activist groups.
But these dates are more of a target, and they will slip some.
As long as significant progress is made, there will be no problem.

Assuming that they will still be refining crude for the jet and shipping markets then there will be a lot of gasoline surplus to requirements, what will happen to that?
