Like many before me, Im puzzling with putting a Inter tank on my Roadster.
It is a genuine tank. So it is time for new bars, my T140 domestic bars won't have
sufficient clearance.
However, which bars?
06.4132
06.3170
06.4887 (AN lists these now as Euro bars)
06.5748 majolica bars listed by the guys in Nova Scotia

06.4132
06.3170

06.3170 was '72 'Handlebar Interstate Europe'. Superseded by 06.4132 'Handlebar Interstate Europe' for '73, therefore should fit if bent correctly.

06.4887 is the 'MAJORCA' handlebar. There's no mention of it being unsuitable for the Interstate in the relevant Norton Service Release (N3/19).

06.5748 is 850 Mk3 'Handlebar Europe' and should fit as there was no Interstate Europe handlebar option, however, later Interstate tanks are supposed to be narrower.

I have the standard Western bars on my Interstate and have no trouble with clearance.

However, I show a part number for these as 06.1046. So I have no knowledge of the ones listed above.

Have rearsets.
Bike is 74 as is tank.
I want the lowest narrowest most pullback bars that will work with the tank and the stock master cylinder.

What great pix on the oldbrits site...bars-o-rama!
Thanks...

I'd be tempted to go to Home Depot or whatever you have on your side of the pond and buy some 1/2" PVC pipe. Outside diameter is 0.84 inches so fairly close to the handlebar diameter. Then heat it up with a hot air gun and start bending. Have a wet towel handy to cool it into the bend so you don't have to wait so long for it to cool and set. For a few dollars you can try out a few different ideas before you start buying. There are lots of bikes that use 7/8" handlebars.

The above site is just one example.

Great idea. However, knowing me, Id spray paint them silver and use them! :-)
Thx for the tip.

I rode for many years with my Interstate tank and rear sets with Flanders made "UK" bars I got from the Norton dealer Pokes in Seattle. The combo was great.

I run 061046 1972 US bars on a steel factory Interstate tank. They barely clear the tank at full lock but don’t touch. The closest point is just at the first bend from the bottom by the white zip ties. This photo shows the clearance compared to a roadster. The 046 bars are comfortable but feel pretty low to me when on the bike.

Ben, what bars are on the Roadster in that pic? They look higher than the standard US bars sold now. I had a low speed crash a few years ago and bent my stock bars, and can't find any with the same rise that I had before.

Sorry for the hijack, Onder.

I'm using black Renthal Street Fighters on my Interstate. I just lucked out that the stock master cylinder fits.

Hi Maylar. I’ll call the owner. He lent me the bike to use for reference in my rebuild. He bought it new so will know if they are stock. I can measure the bars and compare to the oldbritts specs.

Thanks, but I suspect that Old Britts doesn't have any that match. Here is a photo of the current Norton "US" bars compared to what was on my bike originally. They were a couple inches taller than what's available now, and my windscreen fit better with them. Unfortunately, I fell down and bent them. Have not been able to find an exact duplicate.
