Can you clamp them down and use a cheater to bend them to the shape you want.

It was 10 years ago and I don't have them any more. Had I known that I wouldn't be able to find exact replacement I would have kept them and tried to straighten the bend.

Hi Maylar. I checked with the owner of the green roadster. He couldn’t remember but thought that the bars are a little higher than the original bars. Sorry for the delay. Ben

Flanders website has bars of every size and type imaginable- all dimensioned for rise , width , pullback etc with an illustration as to how these dimensions are taken . They are a bit pricey but very high quality.

Ben, what bars are on the Roadster in that pic? They look higher than the standard US bars sold now. I had a low speed crash a few years ago and bent my stock bars, and can't find any with the same rise that I had before.

Sorry for the hijack, Onder.

I have a set of original bars from a 1974 Roadster that are badly rusted. I've considered paying the price to get them rechromed as I am having trouble matching them as well. You might watch eBay for a set and step up to the counter for the chroming fee.

Measurements?

I measure, 5" high, 8" pullback, 31.5 wide. Old Britts gives the US bars measurements as 5, 7.5, 31.

My measurements where taken as in the above illustrations. I'm not sure everybody measures exactly the same way. When these bars are held so that the "handles" are horizontal the rise in the front is vertical or nearly so.

If we all measure using different techniques, we will never have a valid comparison.

Flanders use outside edge to outside edge for pullback ad rise, it is hard to tell from yours if you do too?

Center is from where the curve starts on each side of the center flat section, is that the same on your?

Can you measure the rise from having the handle section flat on the table to the top of the center tube, as in the drawing?

This way people will know what is what when comparing to purchase.

The problem here is that the current offering for US Norton bars is shorter rise than what came on my 74. Nobody sells a set that matches exactly. I've looked over the Flanders web site and didn't see anything that would match. There seems to be nothing in between the 5" western bars and something really high like T-140 bars.

This is of course, confusing. I measured my original bars from my '74 using both methods. The illustrations Dave posted, and as above with the bar laying on the table with the "handles" down. The bars have a 5" rise when measured per Dave's post with the "handles" in a horizontal position. They have a 4" rise when the are laying with the handles down. This is measuring from the table to the top of the bar. The two different methods produce different pullback measurements as well. However as near as I can tell this is very close to the 06.1046 bar offered.

I also have bars on my 73 Interstate that seem to match the original bars from the 1974 bike but I cannot verify whether or not they are original from that period. It is a little difficult to verify the measurements exactly when the bars are mounted with controls attached. I bought a new set of bars for the '74 bike that were supposed to be Western bars but they did not match. I was disappointed. However after all this measuring I suspect I was sold the wrong bar either through my ignorance or neglect (or worse) on the part of the vendor. They were part of a larger order of sale items from a vendor in Canada that has a fairly good rep, except when they don't.

I am going to order a 04.106 bar from somebody I trust, like Old Britts and see if it actually matches my rusted up original. It might be a while as I might as well work up a full list of parts before getting them shipped.

Maylar, as for as finding something with say a 6" rise, I don't know what to say.

While looking through the list of bars available at Brit Cycle, I notice that some of the Triumph US bars have an inch or more higher rise than the advertised height of the US Commando bars.

The above are the US Commando bars (06.1046) as listed on Brit Cycle.

The bars below are the listed bars for T140 US.

Fairly close in width and pull back but definitely higher.
