Maylar,

Haven't been able to find any particular article on the differences between Mk. 1, 2, 2A and 3 Commandoes other than bits and pieces on various web sites. Searching this list brings up nothing. Where, or under what heading, do I look?

Maylar outlined the differences with the 850s. How much more detail do you want?

Wiki has another good overview:

Just recieved my Norton DVD 5th edition. I especially like the Norty Girls! And the stage 1 and stage 2 factory tuning upgrades are tempting ... like I need a sub 12 second Commando ... The price sort of hurt by the time I recieved the package: the very reasonable $69.00 catalogue price was a tad more by the time I paid the C.O.D charges.

Despite having experiance as a diesel mechanic and machinist, it is just starting to sink in what sort of project I have set for myself to restore a machine that was parked in 1974. The good news is that the Commando is possiblly the easiest of the British machines to find parts and technical assistance for.

The only actual pictures, of good quality, I have found of the low exhust is the relativily rare 1968 Fastback shown on the DVD. Theses are NOT the goose neck header pipes and mufflers I am thinking of. There is one photo of a 750 Interstate with the gooseneck pipes. Will post here if I figure out how ... Poster Pinup GoFarFaster.

Talk at ya later ... Thom

Hi, if there is any chance you want to sell the Dunstall stuff I need a tank and possibly the seat. Just let me know. Thanks.

Might be if I had the parts but the bike was parked in 1975 and I got busy with other things ... basically have the bare machine with wheels and tires and clip-ons - no footpegs or seat or headlight or fairing. Sorry.

Re. differences between Marks ... just spotted your post and have strted looking. Thanks

I could find nothing about any differences between Marks using the Search, other than the brief descriptions already posted on Interstate Rebuild_Brit303 ...
I would think this is very basic starting point for anyone doing a rebuild ...

I've already decided to upgrade the electrics and ignition system to 2009 specifications. Will keep the 19" wheels. I may have the cyl. head flow tested but the cam will remain stock. Bumping the C.R. to 10:1 is tempting. As our riding season is from early May to late October at best ... rebuilding things every winter is almost taken for granted.

Basically I want a more or less stock Interstate but without the nonsence of recifiers vibrating themselves into so many pieces.

What part of Nova Scotia are you in. I live in Falmouth, just outside Windsor, gateway to the valley. About 15 minutes away from British Cycle Supply. When I need things, I just drive up to the warehouse and see Gary. You would never know it's at the top of Melanson mountain, on a dirt road, in the woods. Big place, very friendly bunch, all have been there for years, they know their stuff. When Mark the owner is there, he'll invite you for tea. May even get to go through the old two story house plus basement that is packed full of used parts and rolling basket cases. You've gotta walk sideways to get through the aisles. When I die, that's were I want to be buried, just open up the door, and throw me in amongst all that old junk.
