instrument repair

anybody out there have any dealings with smithsgagerepair in Illinois? the reason I'm asking is I sent them a tach and speedo to be repaired/reconditioned, with explicit instructions to contact me with an estimate(which they acknowledged), so I could decide if I wanted to replace with new electronic units, or keep it stock. They never contacted me untill the work was done, and want large dinero for the job. No problem paying someone for a job well done, but that's not the issue here. Any feed back would be welcomed. Scott Thomas is a standup guy that does very good work. I've had 5 gauges done by him and each time he gave me an estimate up front and stood by it. I'd give him an A++

If you electionise the Tacho , make sure its a ' Impulse ' type . for deadly accurate rpm visualisation .
