The problem is the Norton business model.
They are a boutique brand, not a mass market manufacturer.
Hard to develop a dealer network with low production numbers like they have.

Pricey product
Many warranty issues like - compensating dealers for work performed
Low availability of product

You gotta love owning a Norton, to be able to tolerate owning a Norton.

So, you drop a load of money on a product with no local support and when you need parts or service you have to haul your bike halfway across the country?
There isn't even an importer in the US anymore! They need to produce more bikes, develop a nation wide dealer network with parts back up. You can't sell from an empty shelf and if I were to buy a new Norton I would want it now not in 6 to 12 months.
As much as I love seeing a Norton racing at the IOM how much does that cost?

My buddy trailers his Aprilia RSV4 Factory 600 miles round-trip to Louisville, Ky, for service. Shows to go there ARE people that nucking futz.

You talking about the old Norton’s ( drop a bucket of money ride it round the block and it could go bang etc) or the new Norton’s. ( drop a bucket of money etc) what’s the difference.

Richard,

Have you converted your neighbors house into an bnb yet?:p

Not yet. But theres a hotel up the road with so many rooms they’re renting them. Ask Tony. He’ s staying there this weekend. Can you make it this weekend?

I went to the Western Slope Norton Riders get together in Dolores over Fathers Day. Hauled my bike to a friends place in Albuquerque and then we rode up from there. I used to ride to and from work everyday on my Commando. Due to the death of several Smiths clocks I'm not sure how many miles I have on the old girl but the first clock died at 97K, so I estimate it is over 250K. Haven't put as many miles on her for the last year and a half due to health issues, but I'm back in the saddle.
Cheers

These are some of the nice Nortons I saw at the rally. I met 12 people that I knew and had a great meal.

Looks like everyone had a good time. Heard from a friend that Barry took some heat over the newsletter?

I am not aware of that newsletter issue. I don't get involved with club management .

Not being there I got the info second hand. I know Barry and he has had health issues for the last few years. I think because of this the newsletter hasn't come out as often as it used to. To be honest I don't know how he does it, editing, compiling, cajoling and all the other things that go into producing the newsletter. I belong to the AJSMOC and their newsletter is done on line, sure would make thing easier for Barry.
