How in the he'll do u get it off.tried every wrench I have nothing fits do I have to make my own?

Whitworth socket, orginaly when I first done my GB back in the late 70s I used a AF box spanner to fit the nuts but these days I have full set of WW sockets, ring and open spanners, makes life a lot easier having the right tools without forcing the wrong tools on the nuts.

The two outer nuts on the inner cover will need an open end wrench or a thin wall socket. Japanese Kokon sockets in British sizes are relatively inexpensive, strong, and thin walled. A hammer and flat punch may be used to remove the clutch operating lever lockring, but be careful not to destroy it unless you plan on replacing it.

I also struggled when I stripped the gearbox recently to play with the reversed camplate.

When I reassembled it, I used some of RGM's reduced hex nuts.

Hopefully next time the job will be a lot easier!!

RGM is nice if you are on their side of the pond... does anyone in NA carry these nuts?

Rocky Point Cycle can get you as many of the 5/16-26 hex nuts as you like, we also carry 5/16-26 stainless steel dome nuts for the two inner cover studs that express themselves to the outside of the cover.
