I have just received a new metal petrol tank for my 1971 750 commando from India.
The tank looks great and certainly looks better than my leaky fiberglass one.
Before I put it into use,is there any prep work that need to do

Have it tested for leaks. Is it a Roadster tank?

correct fit with no interferences. Level and sitting square , Cap fit correctness, all threads- mounts and petcocks, sealing surfaces flatness , internal debris

Make sure the cap fits and is sealed. If not fix it before you paint. Dont ask me how I know this.
