***IMPORTANT PLEASE READ (but don't panic)***

Well I thought the story was over, but oh no there is a final twist. I swapped the tyre over today, then went to bolt the discs on, but could not get the new Torx bolts to start. I knew the thread is the correct pitch so thought the spacer which is behind the discs was not aligned. I looked carefully and what did I see? the holes in the hub do not align with the holes in the discs. The holes in this 2015 hub are 2.5mm closer together than the Talon hub ( which has the correct 80mm PCD). I've checked on the EBC website and they list the same disc (with colour / wave variants) for all bikes.

Seriously you could not make this up.

I'm really starting to realize what TVS was up against when they inherited the old stock.

I wondered as well, but it's a trick of the light from the camera flash I think. Definitely nothing there anyway.

Un-fucking believable!
I feel terrible for you Cliffa.
Trying to figure out the wheels on these Nortons seems like an expensive game of hit and miss.

Maybe I missed it, but is this a new wheel? Or new rotor? Or both?

I bought the second hand wheels from one of our members who had swapped to carbon. I was fitting the discs from my old wheel to the new one. The spacer had the same issue. Witness marks on the new wheel showed that the previous discs were not concentric either, so I presume the factory must have had the same issue. Maybe they just wizzed them in with power tools somehow. Anyway I had no alternative but to take a file to them.

Geez Cliffa, your saintly patience is surely being tested!! A Dremmel may be your friend for that task! I hope that all will be forgotten on that first awesome ride back!!

So long as the disc rotates true with the axle you should be fine . How was the disc spacing in the calipers ?

I have taken the same plunge with the black India wheels and now I am concerned about fitment . I will post my findings fingers crossed !

Ok so what’s happening regarding front hubs have we found a supplier for these hubs are we looking for a manufacturer for these or are we purchasing them from TVS.
my bike is a 2010 Reg and has 4 cracks near side and 3 on the off side.
all but 2 cracks are only half the way along the post
myself I think this is a safety issue and must be raised before someone has a very bad failure
if not fatal. lets hope no one does.

Good luck with TVS. At their prices and mark ups, you’ll be better off getting BST or Kineo

Thanks for the update. I have managed to buy some second hand later wheels. Norton will only sell complete wheels (understandably) but have no stock at the moment. There are a pair of low mileage wheels on EBay for £1299 with tyres. Ollie Thiel has wheels

What?

You think that a hub that has several cracks and looks like it could fail is a possible safety issue??

You wanna be careful mate, you’ll get labelled a scaremonger, and negative…

Disc spacing is identical Tony, 105mm. I believe only bikes with radial calipers have the 2.4mm spacer behind each disc.

Yes I’ve seen these they are off a write off bike and are down the Devon way.

Hi again Tony. So did you find cracks, or are you playing safe? Yes it will be interesting to see if they have the same issue.

If you do find its the same instead of taking a file to the discs and spacers ( if you have them) I think it would be better to remove the thread from below the head of the bolts to just over the thickness of the disc. That way you won’t have to touch the discs if you ever replace them. You would need to put all 6 bolts into the disc and tighten them in turn. The bolts will be no weaker. (I hope that makes sense). I only filed one disc last night, so will give this a go and report back.

Edit:

Here's one I prepared earlier...

I took 7mm of thread off, but it was still pretty fiddly even getting 2 bolts started and hold the disc and spacer up under the heads, so I decided to file the spacer as it will stay with the bike anyway and it went on. As the spacer is now clear anyway only 5mm of thread needs to be removed.

In the USA we call that “Chicago bolt”

Can I ask if you chucked up the bolt to cut down the threads ? How did you do it and looks like a good solution .
