My '74 came to me in '89 with no ham can and the ignition bracket was hose clamped to the frame, which I quickly bolted transversely to the ham can mounting lugs on the front of the battery tray. It has lived there since, where my horn was also attached.

Now, that space is being repurposed (three guesses as to why, and the first two don't count) and I need to find a new home for the switch. I would like to keep a keyed switch, as I do ride the bike to work regularly and across country from time to time.

I have a BCS type oil pressure gauge that sits on the top of the triple clamp between the instrument cups, so that space is not good.

I have one of Mike's Maney repro exhausts, so ideally the ignition should not be on the primary side.

I also use an interstate setup, and so there is a bit of a limitation imposed by the RH Interstate side cover.

So, inviting suggestions and to show me what you have got or have seen that might work.

TIA.

I like it!!
...just a bugger to deal with if things go wrong.

After converting to K&N air filter, I cut the switch mount bracket off the rear ham can plate and mounted it to the front battery tray sideways. Drilled holes in the bracket and bolted it to the battery tray. I did like that it was facing outside versus forward on my '71. Did the same with my '73. Using the rubber switch cover you don't even notice that it isn't factory. It can be made prettier, but that was expedient as the wiring didn't need to be relocated.
Well, maybe you could reverse it to be on the opposite side. Otherwise, I'd move it up to the instrument area. CNW has a switch plate that has a small gauge mount that you may be able to mount the oil pressure gauge into.

I had it in that location for 30 years, and I reversed it to the timing side a couple years ago when I put the 2-1 high pipe on.

No more room in that spot now.

The CNW plate requires the CNW triple trees and -ground. I have neither of those.

Not a bad option. I will look at that more closely. Thanks.

Keep other ideas coming.

You can see mine here after I fitted the S.U. carb. I still don't like the position, so will definitely mount it between the clocks one day.

OK - I ended up getting one of these out of AUS, so should be here in less than a week.

Grant Tiller even supplied me with a diagram on how to wire it for +earth.

Got the optional suppository as well!
