I have a frame to powdercoat...

in between powder coating bike frame/bit, will you be baking custard tarts, cream cakes e.t.c. ?

Heck yeah!

Except over here it would have to be Mexican sweetbread... regalos, chamucos, cuernitos, cochinitos, conchas... mmmmmmmmmmm!

Maybe even make some jerky, rig up a smoker attachment and smoke some hams; the options are nearly endless.

No pastries and cakes will be made in the shop. I try to not have any food in the shop, both because it's a bit dirty and I don't need the calories

I have the heating elements and control from a household oven I scrapped.
I'm off to Home Depot this morning for 20, 10' steel studs, hinges, latches and insulation,
I have my HVAC friend asking about 8 sheets of 4 x 10 20 gauge sheet metal at his work.
Then to Harbor freight for some wheels, and an air/hydraulic 20 ton ram I saw in the clearance shelf for another project.

I also came up with a simple air circulation system to help maintain a constant temp inside.

Went to the Depot this morning, purchased studs, wheels, hinges, latches and screws.
Waiting on a sheet metal answer.
I'm going to use the spot welder to affix the studs together.

Started looking into the recirculating system and a digital controller.

Should go together fairly quick. I'll get around to starting to frame the walls next week.

I need to get my 1970' Dunstall hardware all cleaned so I can get it out for plating,
finish up a car repair on Sunday night, (for the guy getting me the sheet metal)
and make some more Corvette progress. ( To keep the landlord happy)

Spent some time this morning with metal studs and the spot welder.

Less than 2 hours and all the walls are cut and framed.

I am now waiting on the sheet metal to move forward.

These metal studs are awesome to work with.

Metal studs will fail structurally long before wood! So don't ever use them residentially. FYI. Powder coating services suck for me locally, so I'll have some work for ya when it's up and rolling.

The long term plan is to offer powdercoating services.

I still need a larger blasting area, a booth to spray in, and a bigger gun.

I have enough stuff right now to get by, but any increase in volume will be very time consuming at this point.

Once I finish this oven, I can do the entire bike myself.

It is looking like future business will move twards motorcycle restoration, repair, sales and parts.

I really enjoy doing these things. And Motorcycles don't take up as much room as a car or boat.

Much easier to run several thru at a time.

The oven Ms Peel frame got baked in was big enough to put a car inside. Run by a biker gal in the middle of woods you had to watch the weather d/t river level crossing to get to her place. Do make provision for eyes in roof to hang stuff. Some of the power carriers are quite toxic.

Still waiting on the sheetmetal, his boss was out of town until today, so should have an answer soon.

Found rock wool insulation at Lowes. More expensive, but is supposed to last forever. Fiberglass brakes down over time.

Also found hi temp sealant and door seal.

It's all coming together nicely.

I was pricing out ready made ovens of the same size, over $10K

I'll have about $750 into mine. Gotta love home built stuff.

I have 4 frames of my own to do, if I sent them out it would cost more than this oven did to make.

Ordered seals, sealant, heating elements and Digital controller, relay and temp probe.

Sheet metal is in the works, just waiting on a low daily price (it's a commodity and fluxuates daily)

Still need to make a trip to Lowes for the Rock Wool insulation.

I stated a running tally, looks like all in $650.

Slowly gathering all the supplies. I picked up the insulation yesterday.

Still waiting on the sheet metal. It has been ordered, just waiting for a call to go pick it up.

The sheet metal is the last item needed, then it's on to assembly.

@bwolfie - with the expected cure temperatures you are going to need for the powder coatings you might want to investigate carbon fiber curing as an add on service or capability.

A few vacuum bags and a vacuum pump and soon Bob will be your uncle.

Just a thought.

I already have all the bagging stuff, I've been doing my own odd bits for years. I used to do CF repairs on Airplanes.

Major progress this week. I picked up the sheetmetal last week along with the insulation.
I have 4 wall sections completly done, the last 2 need to stay open until I get the wiring in. I have built up the cube.
It is huge. I should start in on the wiring next week. Hope to try it out by the end of the week.

I need to get it done soon, the jobs are starting to pile up for it.
