I think it's bracket connects to the two (1/4") bolts connecting the rear mudguard to the battery box - you're better off putting it somewhere more accessible though. Twin horns one on each coil bracket under the front of the petrol tank is where I put mine.

To keep it Norton faithful, horn mounts on single bottom hole of double plate triangle whoose 2 top holes mount to back edge of battery tray. Mount plate has built in angle but forget which way its angled but should be obvious. Touchy to tighten enough to stay put but not crush distort horn to throw tune off even softer. Definite place for blue loctie or soft washers to hold some clamp back force on long term vibrating. Bell faces out to the RH and down as much as space allows.

I see some voices saying it can be moved. Up between the coil;s, lower triple tree( I cant envision that, but am open to ideas)

Make extra effort the terminals stay on as a bugger to get to later. My bee under my bonnet is my main weapon for animals decisions to move or get impacted whilelooking at me wondering where the mild muffled noise is coming from.

I put one of these on an L-bracket attached to the front of the battery box - I got it from a parts box from another bike I had. I run K&N filters, so it sits nicely under those and is much louder than the stock one. Doesnt look too horrible on.

Just doing the horn bit. I changed my mind after bike about done so off with the rear guard.
I adjusted the horn as per the factory manual and added a relay. It is loud but it does get
muffled by the odd location.
Have the clamps on the swinging arm tube so routing oil pipes is tough. Ran line from oil filter
to tank out with the in line through the cradle and then back and up.
There is a lot of iffy stuff on a Commando and when you change anything you open multiple
cans of worms.

I want to create an app that answers all posts with
"But it isnt factory original".
:-O

Some things can be forgiven on altering factory era issue and hidden heavy muffled horns is one of em. I kept Trixie factory but Peel followed Kenny Dreers horn placement in the crook of Z-plates

I am not after factory original, too late for that. Some suggest relay, where too mount?

I refitted my original horn in the original place but mounted another horn beside the battery. Now I HAVE A HI/LOW HORN COMBO, AND I CAN EASLIY KICK THE TOP ONE IF THEY STOP WORKING.

This "Wolo Loud One" is available at Advance Auto and AutoZone and the like. They say it is 115db but I think it's more like 105db. Still damn loud. They're like 12 bucks.
