Hello All, I installed a new Fiam? Horn while resurrecting my '74 Commando 6 years ago. Worked great when testing but was severely muffled after installation. I moved on to something else instead of trying to fix it at the time.

I eventually refurbished the original horn and this week I went back "in" to install it along with adding some 140 weight oil to the swing arm pivot. All went OK. I followed the horn tuning procedure and it worked great in position. I kept testing it during the reassembly and it worked well. That is until I did the very final nip up of the two forward lower fender nuts. It would only put out a single dull click. Loosen the nuts and it works.

It appears the big pitch adjustment screw is getting pressed against the oil line sleeve. Not sure why that would cause it to stop working. Any guidance here would be appreciated. (And yes, I know I can get a louder horn and mount it in a better spot. But would rather get the original working if possible).

Horns are quite sensitive to mounting correctly. Contact with something in the wrong place can affect the horns resonance and therefore sound output. The Fiam units I use on bikes & cars state in instructions to only use the included mounting bracket and to not bend or even paint the bracket for this reason.

One thing you might check is to see that you are mounting it correctly with proper small bolts, washers, etc.and installing them as shown. You might have done this already but I also like installing them in factory location. To each his own.

Thanks Gentlemen. The oil line did have some slack in it so it was a matter of holding it a little to the primary side while reinstalling it. With my makeshift third hand. Horn interference
