Hi,

I have some new .020 Emgo pistons and hepolite rings to install in my 1973 850. What hone should I tell the machine shop to use? Inside the packaging it says Federal Mogul, so I believe they're the true manufacturer. The clearance I was planning to use was. .045.

I used a Flex Hone (ball hone) on my 850 a couple years ago. I think it's a medium-fine grit.
Surely your machine shop must have lots of these hanging around.
Don't forget to check the ring gap.

An AN300 stone will do nicely. Jim

Hepolite ring in Emgo pistons? Make sure they sit all the way in there. Some piston grooves are shallower than others. I would suggest Hepolite Pistons to go with those Hepolite rings.

And yes, I'm sure you meant .0045
