I have an opportunity to purchase NOS Hepolite pistons that come with Deves rings. I have never heard of this brand of rings.
Does anyone have opinions or knowledge of these rings?
Beware of old Hepolites. Some are of the dreaded 'flip top' design. Those with large oil ring cutout. They are good for 5,000 rpm, tops. After that the crown parts from the rest of the piston.
Some of you will be happy to know that they seem to use the horrible 4 piece oil ring were the middle section is only a spacer, and it requires a wavy expander beind it and an oil groove machined to an accurate depth
IE YOU CAN CUT THE ENDS OF THE SPACER AND IT WONT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE
I did read that Deves is the ring supplier to Ferrari. They sell a pretty well sorted out car so I would guess that they have faith in Deves.
Boy does my spell check program hate Deves. I had to disable my auto correct. Had some interesting suggestions
