David M in Hong Kong do you know David Hunter in Hong Kong. He just won the 57 BSA Goldstar DB34 raffle prize at the All British Clubmans show in San Jose, Ca.

I am happy for David, but I got a sense that more than a few people wanted to see someone present win the bike

I think it's great that someone from far away won this bike (it was beautiful byvthe way)... Shows that selling tickets for 6 months really spread the chances!!

I don't know David Hunter, but if I meet him I will give him a good kicking from all of us! I had 20 tickets myself, but the address I put down was care of Bob Raber. I'm sure the person that most people wanted to win the bike was themselves. I saw the bike at Rabers when I was there last week, I hope that it is well loved and well used by the lucky new owner.

These near misses seem to be the story of my life, I bought a lottery ticket in the same shop the same week a couple from Scotland won 80 million pounds on the Eurolottery, If anyone wants to follow me around for a couple of months buying lottery tickets etc. I will only charge 10% for the privilege!

Dave,
Near misses come in all colors. Miss the lottery, miss getting run down by the bus. Frankly I would rather be poor and still upright!

Thanks for the positive slant Russ, I've had my fair share of metaphorical buses running me over, but perhaps there were more waiting in the wings that I have indeed dodged and how many poor unfortunates don't even have a classic bike (or 12) to assuage the trials and tribulations of life?
