Holiday present - New Mufflers for my Mark III

AFAIK only Andover do an accurate replica of the original peashooter with correct flutes at the rear. I don’t know whether that comes in two versions, with more or sound absorption added?

Earlier version on mine is really loud when you wack it. If you feather the throttle in town it isn't a problem.
Recent offering by AN is supposed to be quieter so I guess enough customers mentioned the situation to them. Mine are in good condition so I cannot spring for a set.

Last question before I'm off to the Andover website: has anyone heard of recently manufactured mufflers breaking at the seam? A mechanic I know warned me that that was a problem

You might try the search function, located upper right corner.

If you use the British word silencer rather than the American word muffler, then quite a bit pops up on search.
Try " cracked silencer"

I've seen this a few times
That's why I threw the silencer clamps over the fence with the exhaust rose tab washers
i followed your advice and just put a slither of silicone between the downpipe and silencer with no clamp and it is fine

I just ordered two reverse cones from The Bonneville Shop. From discussion with their tech guy and Randy at Baxter Cycle, the Emgo mufflers, made in Taiwan, are good quality, no breakage issues, and are QUIETER than the similar British made units. They should show up in a week or two

Margie, I recently fitted a complete EMGO set (head pipes and silencers) to my friends bike. They lined up very nicely on both sides, clearing kick start, etc. think you will be pleased. I also put a set of their head pipes on mine along with AN sound deadening silencers. All good but if the silencers are supposed to be quieter, you could have fooled me!
