That Fireflake Blue is one of my favorite colors ever, do it, you know you want to.

Vince

Edit to add:
Please never use the word "tins" again, the Walruses kid ruined it for the rest of the world!

Not to get picky, but there were no 850's in 1972. ?

He's probably looking at build date on the plate which could have been 1972 for the 73 model year.

actually its a 74 with a late 73 build date.tomorrow im sending everything to Brent so I have a couple of days to decide.I think black would make it serious and the blue would make it like a toy.My Harley is black so im thinking a little color now

You cant go wrong with black. If its nice and you are going for restoration the original color would be the way to go. Paint is easily changed so its really no big deal.
Do what you feel is right.

Forget all this Namby-Pamby, "Whatever you think is best" stuff.
Fireflake Blue or the universe will asplode!, do you really want that hanging over your head?

Vince

NYC,

The fire flake blue is a stand out in my opinion. Black is nice, but there are plenty in black. If you are after originality make sure you get the stripes correct of an 850,they have twin stripes,750's have single. Lining I think should be silver on the blue, gold on the black.

Post the porn when your painter is done, please.

Cheers Richard

Hi

Blue has been a lucky colour for me when I brought my 74 850 new it was black but since 1980 when I converded to the featherbed frame it has been blue, when riding with all my mates i get more attention from strangers about my nice blue than their black paint jobs, but it will be up to you to decide what colour you will be happiest with as both colours are great.

Also I am not one to hold on to things for a long time would black be easier to sell than blue.I am also stripping off the blinkers and maybe adding a bsa taillight assembly.

Why in the &%#@ would you ever sell your Commando?

Now, take a look at the great looking tank that Brent did in black with red badges and imagine that with blue badges instead. You will thank me later.

Russ

My first Commando was black, a 72 Combat with single line gold pinstriping.
When I was looking for my next Commando, my first choice was black, second choice was one of the "Fireflake" colours. I figure if I'm gonna ride a 70's superbike, it might as well be look the part. I ended up with Fireflake Bronze and man I couldn't be happier! Highly recommended.

I think white looks nice ...
I've had lots of comments like, "I've never seen a white one before" .
Neither have I. Except for the Fastback on the cover of Mick Duckworths book.
Easy enough to change tho, whatever colour you choose.

But, the Fastback on Mick Duckworth's book cover isn't white-it's the early Commando "Flat Silver".
