Often find the term «Sorn» in classifieds. What's that?
Thankfully, they've changed it now so that once you've applied for SORN it stays that way until you retax it. Don't have to apply for it each year. I agree with the meaningless bit though, it's just petty bureaucracy to trip people up.Triton Thrasher said:In Britain: Statutory Off Road Notice.
Meaningless paperwork that you have to apply for when your vehicle is not in use on the road. You get fined when you forget to renew the SORN every year.
But I don't think it's happened yet, as far as I know (I got a SORN reminder this month "Your tax disc/SORN runs out on 31 October 2013").Nortoniggy said:Thankfully, they've changed it now so that once you've applied for SORN it stays that way until you retax it. In have got several bikes sorn, and with the old ones that have not been taxed in the last 15 years I do not get a reminder, but these still have the old blue V5.chilly said:Was certainly muted that it would be continuous , but i don't think its happened yet
Vehicles that were not taxed on (or any time after) 31st January 1998 are exempt from SORN.chilly said:Pre 1998 i think was the date , anything not taxed before that , didn't have to comply with sorn
SORN isn’t needed if:
•your vehicle was last taxed before 31 January 1998
