Been riding since about 1971 4 weeks ago I woke up in hospital with no memory of why I was there. Apparently I hit a Ford pickup. The Norton is safe and sound,I was on my HD. I have both wrists broken compound fractures. Open fracture of the pelvis and a fractured sacrum, fractured vocal cord as well. I am now in a wheel chair with limited walker exercises while learning towalk again. Police report only says vehicle B sruck rear of vehicle A. No tickets issued nor was there an accident investigation. Seems rather fishy to me.No way would I just flat out run into the back of someone. Will I ride again? Big decision. Much thought before I make that choice
Anyway, you all be careful out there, look twice and be safe.

Ugh I am so sorry to read this Mike. We've never met but my heart goes out to you just the same. I'm just glad that your mental faculties are there. I'm sure you will heal up and be up and about soon.

I've been looking at a small dash camera though of course that means being on my best behavior.

Well at least you've survived it. Hope the healing goes fast and well.

Sincerely hope you regain as much normality as is possible as soon as possible.... Lady Luck can be a spiteful bitch..

Sorry to here that Mike, sincerely hope you get well ASAP.
Whether or not to ride again can only be decided by you and how you feel. IMHO I wouldn’t even think about that yet.
And yes, I agree with you, I’m struggling to understand why / how an experienced motorcyclist rear ends a truck with such force. I can only assume he slammed on the anchors?

Ugh, I hope that you heal soon Mike, that sounds like a nasty accident; I broke my collarbone on June 1st, but can at least ride whilst I wait for it to be pinned.

Hope you heal quickly mate
I can't imagine what it must be like not knowing exactly what happened!!
Best wishes from me

Thank God you survived the crash. I wish you a complete recovery! It will take some time. Be patient and look ahead to enjoyable trips on your Norton again!

Not what any biker would like to experience and wish you well, take your time to heal and don't think about giving up riding till your all healed up and see how you recover, the bike can wait for as long as you need.
Not remembering what happened the other party can say anything about the accident to put the blame on you or to cover their own arse if they did something wrong, anyway good luck with the healing.

Mike - I do not know you but I wish you the best in your recovery. Do whatever the medical professional recommend to recover.

Don’t be surprised about not remembering detail of the incident. The brain is a wonderful device - when a shock to the system occurs it will sometimes block the memory to prevent reliving the mental pain of the experience. Twenty-two years ago, I was in an incident at an automotive proving ground. I was severely injured and eventual recovered most capabilities. However, to this day I remember nothing of the incident from the time the vehicle rolled over to the time I was placed on a hard-board on the tarmac and placed in an ambulance.

Where there is life there is hope. Be well and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Mike, make sure you mention to the doctors you don't remember crashing...

My ski buddy Russ, would crash while skiing and find himself on his ass in the snow and not remember falling. Eventually, one night he sat down for dinner and woke up on the floor with his cold dinner sitting there on the table in front of him. It turns out he was having mild siezures and blacking out at random times...

Heal up! I myself have broken my hip socket, my collar bone, and had 100 stitches in my back from a motorcycle accident in my youth... It's amazing how the human body can heal..

Sorry to hear that, best wishes on healing up fast. Deciding whether to ride after a serious accident is a very personal decision, good luck with that, it can be difficult and full of contradictory feelings, whatever you ultimately decide is the right decision.

Salut Mike,

What a sad & strange story!

Hope you will recover as much and as soon as possible.

Bon courage,

Laurent
