Pet hates that people seem to do when parked up on your bike or at shows

After 50 years of riding and owning motorcycles and when parked up somewhere my pet hate is people who just can't help themselves by touching or fiddling around with things on your bike, on my Norton after 47+ years of ownership my pet hates are people who think the choke lever is on and they have to close the leaver, or people who see a nice looking paint job and they have to touch it or rub their hands over it, or if they see a bit of dust on your paint job and they have to write wash me with their finger.
My shed seems to attract dust and sometimes I jump on my bike without taking any notice of the dust on my tank, but people just can't help themselves by rubbing their fingers through the dust, man I hate that.
I had a few mate one Friday night up in the shed drinking beers we were all hanging around the Norton and yes there was dust on my tank as the bike was sitting for some time while doing some work on it and when I went up stairs to the house to get some nibblies I came back to my tank with a smiley face on it in the dust, I knew who did it and just went off my handle about it, my other mates said ease up but no I was angry and told my mate would you like me come down your place and do the same thing to your Harley, I have known him all my life so I know he wouldn't like anyone touching his tank or put a smiley face on it if it was dusty.
Although my paint job on my Norton is old and showing its age its still not right to touch, but my point is I don't do that to anyone's bike and don't expect my own mates do the same, the other 2 mates thought it was a good joke till I did my block about it, well we are all still friends but it was just a point I was making, don't touch unless you ask.
Another thing is people who like to readjust your bike mirrors when parked or grab the throttle and screw it on and off or play with the clutch lever.

So what get up your nose with people while out on your bike.

I do not have any mates to drink beer with or mess with my bikes. They are all gone but you are correct. I never touch another person's bike or car without permission.

I've never experienced any of this
None of my bikes have been messed with as far as I can remember
If a mate drew a face in the dust on my bike I'd just laugh

The dry dust does leave fine scratches in a good finish.
For me, it was that periodically someone would pull the solder off of the spokes I had there to balance the wheel.
Pool leagues and other such things where the bike would be unattended by me. The other one was to pull the plug caps off and just rest them on the plugs. They must have thought it fun to watch me kick it. Probably then start up on their electric start. I never did figure out who was messing with the plug wires and I soon learned to push on the caps before leaving those places. The solder, I figure was stupid curosity by someone without ill intent

Yes dust and fine scratches was why I did my block with my mate they all thought it was funny at the time and one of the mate's who laugh owned a car spraying business, he should have known better.
Yes had the spark plug gag done to me a few times in my younger days, but the bike still fired up just ran a bit funny till I seen the caps moving, I forgot about the plug cap trick lol.

I once returned to my Commando parked in a street in Hammersmith , London, to find a parent who had placed a child on the seat like it was an amusement park. I was not happy...

Touching anything I own with wheels without my permission has always lead to words and a lesson from me ….😉

When I was a younger man, I was more uptight about it.
Now, unless there looks like there will be damage, I smile knowing the old bike is bringing someone for a walk down memory lane.
Everyone at shows is respectful, and don't cross any boundaries.
If someone is really excited, I offer them a photo op sitting on it, use their phone to take their pic.

It bugs me when I park my bike on its side stand, and then some pillock does the same, but so close that when I want to set off again I cannot get my bike upright to take it off the stand let alone get on it.
Like the no-skill mouth breather at Main Street in Daytona, broke my mirror in half, laid the broken glass on my seat for me to find. (Rubber rim held it together).

After reflecting on the fun we had, the fact that nobody crashed, got injured, or arrested,🏁 I arrived at the fact it was cheap fun. 🍻😎🤡

Got new Halcyons ordered that afternoon. 📦🚛

I’ve always been fairly relaxed about the odd bit of mild groping too.

But when you’ve got flt slide pumper carbs, you don’t want no eejuts yanking yer twistgrip !

My dad was with many faults, but lack of consideration for others was not one of them. In fact, he was set off by displays of inconsideration for others, and he instilled that in me. I remember him picking up and pocketing an empty cigarette package, or candy bar wrapper while we were deep in the woods deer hunting, muttering about the inconsideration of others who would despoil Mother Nature, and the enjoyment thereof by others.

Because of my Dad's example, it is unthinkable for me to violate the privacy, or property, of anyone. And it sets me off if someone violates mine.

Hope they are not all gone BECAUSE they messed with your bike?! 😉

Not a hate but a fear - I always stay close to my bike after arriving somewhere until the exhaust cools down . Kids like to touch things and I don’t want them burnt or have Dad’s lawyer getting his hands on everything I own…

Ash, you should have gotten some more beer instead of nibbles. If your pals don't screw with you its time to start worrying.
As RT noted, I just don't want anyone getting burned on a hot pipe.

I have these stickers on all my bikes
