Head Steady re-fit

Hello, i am in the process of re-fitting my head steady after having my head off and was wondering if there is anything more to it then doing the reversal for removal. (like my shop manual says) i noticed the slots in the bracket? The maunual says to tighten the rubber studs last? on a 73 does it matter if it is on the center stand? any insight always appreciated. thanks, jerome

I always do the final nip up with the bike off the main stand and me sitting on it.
