Great NEWS! Read all about it!!

A topend heavy powerband on a V4 1200 superbike is one thing.
A 650 twin with such a powerband is another.

The Beemer F800 DOHC twin is a nice ride with a claimed 85HP. I can see with 100HP it would have to lose some its midrange and be less enjoyable a ride. A smaller displacement 650 producing 100HP would certainly have its power delivery severely impacted.

If Norton can get an honest 85HP SAE from the 650 (non-supercharged version), with a good power spread, I should think that would make a really nice ride.

I think I read there will be 3 Power figures, a low normally aspirated, a high normally aspirated (that’s the 100bhp version) and then the supercharged version (I’ll be surprised if that comes to fruition though personally).

So, perhaps they agree with you, and will build a flexible lower power unit plus a tuned cafe racer type unit. Different horses for different courses.

I think that would appeal to the widest possible segment of potential buyers.

I am pretty sure these days that Garner and Co could get a switchable map that could make the engine a nice unit off road, and just as nice on road. Something slim for the tracks and lanes, would be just as suitable for filtering on the motorways and spurts of over taking on roads like the A272 or even the Morestead road for those brave enough would be a winning package.

Not sure if the power output would be the killer deal here, if it works irrespective of the HP then it will sell.

A sweet lightweight tourer around the same power unit would also be nice, something tells me that if they have the engine they claim they have in the twin, then the options utilising it and the maps that it could use would make for a range of very nice bikes.
