Great NEWS! Read all about it!!

Very nice, looks ideal for my commute. Hopefully the Donington outfit have learnt from past mistakes and have an accurate prediction of demand, reliability and parts supply. If they have it will be a big step for them towards being one of the big time manufacturers, they may not want to be, but if you are going to build a product that is in demand, then they should supply it.

Looks like a case of this forum needing a re-title.

I’d want one more if it was a two up. I really like this bike tho. Cheers to another good looking machine.

It’s very easy to limit the demand to what you can supply... just increase the price until you put off just enough customers so the ones that remain can be supplied.

Simples !

Why would a scrambler be two-up? Are you really saying you'd like a simple, clean, naked, two up road bike? I miss my old BMW R80GS as well!

A two up because its more versatile. A scrambler to me is a versatile, make shift, ready for rough trails, down town, strap all sorts of items to it. quick up and go, someone can jump on the back in a pinch. Say someone has a bike down, hop on the back and get to town for parts.

To me its like the do anything bike. And a two up would be required for this. Obviously not going to be comfortable for the pillion but better than walking.

The lighter weight 650 package is a nice idea, but I’m not really a scrambler fan.
I want to see a classically styled 650 as I described in an earlier post.
Kind of a next generation “Commando II”, similar to the original.
Bench seat, nice tank, badging, etc., but with modern performance/reliability.

Scramblers aren't exactly hardcore, rocky uphill dirt bikes. Not even as rugged as the old Enduros. It is cool for a dirt road or a firm beach, maybe a field to chase your untrained retriever who could give a damn about your geese. You'll need some room to strap the bugger on for the ride home.

This new Norton looks rather odd, the new Enfield twin looks better, but that's my two cents worth of course.
Be frank guys, if this bike had the name Kawasaki or Honda on the tank, would you give it a second glance ?

My favorite line in the article........"Norton will reveal their intention to build a new family of 650cc parallel-twins at this weekend’s Motorcycle Live, showing renderings of a new scrambler model to canvass input from potential owners." FAMILY. Hoping for something that is comfy two up riding, 100HP. That seat looks a bit short. Exciting news.

100HP from a 650cc twin will be a fine trick indeed!

Frankly? Probably not. I think the Duc is ok. The Thaiumph Scrambler is ok too is just too heavy and could use more HP. If I wanted to ride in the mud, I'd get a Japanese dirt bike. I think they should try to compete with the Bonnie series. Especially the T120.

Yes, I was kinda thinking that. I guess the logic is that half of a 200bhp 1200 V4 should produce half the BHP.

It will be interesting to see what it ends up putting out.

The rendering looks a lot like the Kawi KLR.
The last thing you should have for running down a trail is a tall bike with 100 bhp , but here again Garner is a great salesman.

A Maico 490 with 55 HP and 220 lbs is insanely powerful off road machine, lots of broken spines from that bike, it's way too much motor for most riders.

I believe Garner is thinking the 100 bhp and the Norton name will sell the bike and he is probably right.
