presumably more points would be given to those that not only started with a rat, but performed most of the work themselves, no?

Maybe next years calendar could have each month picture set with a before and after shot.
How come there is never enough time to do it right.... but always enough time to do it twice.

I started out not wanting to do a lot of things, but eventually I did everything. It was just too much trouble to do it twice.

Again, just a personal preference thing, but when the official submission are starting to be received, the more detailed the build thread, and the more / better photos, the better the overall presentation for the voting public to consider.

I have always liked having straight-on side shots of the bike, from both sides, at the "before' and "after" stage, to compare and contrast.

Not such a big deal how you present the "before" photo, but the ones with 1/2 a bike, totally rusty, and weeds growing through the spokes and a rat nest in the left cylinder, tend to make a good impression! So, the next time you buy an old basket case, have your camera at hand when you go to collect it!

To me, this is a huge part of this forum; seeing each other's ongoing projects, comparing notes & resources, sharing spare parts, etc. The "after" photos, and ride stories, are the icing on the cake.

Hello GrandPaul

Can I participate even if my bike was not a "choice" rebuilt or a barn find but just a totaled one!!!
I started the rebuilt in April and should be ready next month: just installed the newly painted fenders (with rubber coating inside!), primary is in ... Just missing electricity, mufflers (SS/ss) and the body....

ANYONE can participate, it's just that your "before" and "after" photos are the basis from what people will be voting on for "MOST IMPROVED".

So, if the bike was a nice clean runner "before", and becomes a little bit nicer & cleaner bike "after", there won't be a lot of "improvement" relative to one that went from a twisted wreck or pile of rust to a beautifully salvaged, refurbished, restored or customized bike.

I'm not sure if the formal competition is limited as to the total number of entries (poll choices), Jerry or perhaps LAB can tell us the answer to that.

Belsk, you have a couple of good "before" photos there!

Do you have a spare set of cylinders from the ones in the photo? If so, let's talk about a deal off-line.

Thanx.

Dave, you better not make too many nasty comments about his sissy bar, or he'll nuchuck the cr@p out of you.

It's not going to take much to improve that beastie, Mike.

I made the mistake of not taking a picture when I got the bike. My girlfriend snapped one of me tearing it apart a month later so there are some bits missing and the picture is shite anyway.

Mmmm... some good contenders this year again, cant help but wait anxiously for Nortonspeeds reveal!
Maybe a special mention for best video clip, 2 recent ones spring to mind, one amazing and the other funny!?
