You have 4 more months to complete your major Norton Commando-based project, to possibly win the 2010 "Most Improved" award.

We had some awesome entries last year; this year has seen some really ratty "donor" / "before" bikes posted and most of those projects are well on thier way.

I'm going to be chipping in a little something to the winner, and I'm sure there will be other rewards (calendar, t-shirt, etc.?)

So, whatever excuse you've been using all year, shove it aside and get back out in that fettling shed!

If your project thread is already ongoing and you're likely to make the deadline, post a link to your thread as a reply, let's get them rounded up and help if we can.

I don't know if there were ever any formal rules finalized.

I'd suggest at least running, rideable, and reasonably complete.

(since we all know they are never really "done").

So I have a chance...

If you can't get it rideable in 4 months, you need to take up needlepoint.

Hey! I can finally play this game. Where do we submit our before and after photos?

I guess I need to buy a camera now. :?

The hurriedier I go, the behinder I get. But I am down to ordering the last few things. Waiting on parts from Amal for the carbs, make fuel lines, clean the oil tank install filter and lines, repair seat with new cover, install headlamp and wiring which is ready, get chromed front fender and stays and gas cap. Now whether or not it will run, at least it will look nice? But I also have been working on this thing since '03 but never started putting things together until this year.

Yeah, you got this one wrapped up. Of course you have been talking about an f'n camera for months so there is still a chance.

I never really take pictures of anything so I can't justify spending the cash. I don't keep photos of anything either.

I'm just patiently waiting for my girlfriend to buy one. :D

Yawn.

Oh, are you still talking about cameras?

No pic, no win. Ruling from the judge?

This is the only two pics taken of the finished product before the camera bit the dust. It is only a partial shot which is why I never posted it in my build thread.

Right before the first ride. No seat on yet as I just put fresh oil in it. Stu from the forum here and his son Al are in the background. I'm the bald guy with my eyes closed.

This is what the biked looked like after I started to tear shit off.

If DogT would post a finished shot I'd say he's in it for cost efficient build from "ground up". Heck throwin money at something makes it easy.

And the partial picture is more beautiful than most bikes out there.

This is how mine looked when I got serious about fixing it up.

Thanks Dave. Yours will be no wall flower either. I'm really looking forward to your finished pictures so don't break your camera.

I think DogT just gave us some competition. My Roadster was nowhere near that condition. Ratty and worn yes, but not ratty, worn, rusty with missing parts.

There has to be something for the folks to base thier voting on.

So, some semblance of a "before" photo and at least one basic "after" shot.

Dog T has a pretty darned ratty "before" bike happening there...

This thread is just a preamble to the "official" contest thread. But it should give some people an idea of some of the great work folks have been doing.

I have to admit that it looks like parts are missing, but they are just removed. I had everything, but some parts could not be re-used. Rear fender is trash, tires, rims and spokes of course, tank and panels were painted black (unfortunately by me) exhaust system was semi-roadster, but trash, I can list the replaced parts later, but everything was in about the condition you see in the picture if not worse.
