My 1969 S type has a "Britain RTLB" gearbox layshaft ball bearing.
RTLB is written on the external ring and on internal ring is written LTLB, but this letter are too small for my eies!
The bearing has numbers stamped 6803.
It look work very very well.
I have the shell box apart.
Is better to change this bearing?
I cannot know how many miles it has.
Thank you.

Yes, definitely.
The standard 6203 layshaft drive side ball bearing should always be replaced with either the NJ203E roller bearing or the "Mick Hemmings" FAG 6203TB P63 ball bearing.

Hi again.
I should replace also the mainshaft and sleeve gear bearing?
They turn very free.
Thanks.

If, as you say, those bearings are relatively unworn and still in good condition then there's probably no need to replace them, however, some might argue that it would be a "false economy" not to replace those relatively inexpensive bearings whilst the gearbox is stripped down, so I think the final decision to renew them or not must rest with you.

I think sleeve gear bushes is a must. Be sure to get the wider (più ampia) ones. They have more surface area to support this critical area which is prone to wear.

Gearbox layshaft bearing.
My bearings felt smooth too, but I pulled 2 pencil end size loads out of the bottom of my box after opening it up. So, while you`re in there....

I agree.
Take a good look at the first gear lay shaft bushing (040046). They have a tendency to crumble and break apart.
