Just putting final touches on my 73 850 and my question is this
on the left hand handle bar is it best to have a gap between the clutch purch and the grip or have the purch up against the grip and the end of leaver over hanging the bars opinions please
If you leave a gap and are unfortunate enough to drop the bike then the lever might just survive, additionally the extra leverage offered by an inwardly adjusted perch will make the clutch pull easier.
The position of the clutch perch and the brake perch should be a matter of ergonomics not cosmetics; adjust them to give you the best control of the function.
When new they had that gap. The US bars are longer than most in the hand area to allow everything to fit. With a lot of other bars the master cylinder hose doesn't follow the bend in the bar.
