Hello all,
Does anyone know how the screw holes for the badge mounts are accommodated on the inside of the tank? I need to replace some and don't want to cause cracks or penetration into the fuel area. Any photos?

Thanks,
Ed

Just took a look. Would be a PITA to set up for a photo, because my tank is on the bike with fuel in it, and I'm going for a test ride.

Looks like a rivet nut to me. I'm not sure how they sealed it at the factory. I'm not a restoration guy. They were all good in the tank I have, so never had to figure it out. One of the restoration gurus should be able to provide more info. Try google for sealing rivet nuts in the meantime. A good coat of tank sealer might be able to seal around rivet nut.

Thank you Schwany,
I found my bore scope last night and was able to view the inside of a P11 tank. I assume they are the same for badge mounting for G/N15.
Unfortunately I couldn't find the cord to transfer video from the scope to my computer.
What I see is two, on each side, round bar stock brazed/silver soldered to the inside tank wall. I don't know if these equate to rivet nuts, but they look quite solid. I'm not so worried now that I can see solid steel.
