Well, I thought I had the problem beat. Non availability of heads that is. My next batch of heads is on its' way to me now. I should have them by Friday and will start shipping to my dealers on Monday. The bad news is that, basically, if you didn't have one ordered through one of my dealers then you miss out again. All the 850 heads are sold before I've even got them. 750 heads are not a problem at this stage. I have placed an order today for another 30 x 850 heads and hopefully delivery can be expedited. This last batch took seven months from when I ordered them to be shipped. I am hoping that my next batch will be ready in February or March. I will have confirmation shortly.

I was certainly not expecting to have this batch sold so quickly. At least this next batch should give me some breathing space so that I can get the aluminium barrel project (for 850s at least) underway at last. They will be a work of art.

Anyway, sorry guys and girls.

I guess the message is, if you want an head in the future get a deposit down at your dealer now?

Will barrels go through the same dealers?

Barrels, this is the first I've heard about any new aluminum fullauto barrels...good news indeed. Cj

Yep, barrels will be available through the same dealers and no, no work has been started yet, not even the design stages. The barrels will look just like standard cast iron 850 barrels but will be lighter and be made to tighter tolerances. 750 barrels later at some stage.

F.A. - Please check out that factory race mill photo in the recent post by Steve A. What chance of a trick set up as he describes?

Where are all these Nortons that need 850 heads, much less the 750's? Just a general question, not trying to be a dick. I'm glad there's a market though.

It's been estimated that 40 to 50 percent of the RH4 850 heads were cracked at the intake guide hole from the factory. I don't know how true this is but I have a shelf full of them that are difficult if not impossible to fix. Jim

Dave,

Not just people needing heads for their engines. Its people wanting to get the best head available for their machines to improve performance. We have stopped offering performance porting as an option due to the fact that these heads are so good out of the box that its hard to beat them, even with extensive port work.

I offer it as an option for my builds and in the last 12 months of builds, most customers have opted for the Fullauto head.

Not only does it perform. The quality is superior in every aspect. Material, build quality and finish is as good as it gets.

I have had many people comment on the fact that these heads are actually relatively inexpensive considering how complicated they are to manufacture.

Hats off to Ken C (Fullauto) for stepping up and making this happen.

I'm just glad that these guys are making these heads.. No bike can compare to the 15 to 70 mph torque that comes from a Norton. At least from what I've experienced. I'm not talking about the ring dingers.

Thanks guys.

No, of course you aren`t DogT, but the point you make holds, it is one of the prime attractions of the Commando, no argument.
Can we have a list of vendors stickyfied which will include such-like [validated as useful] Commando parts sources & availabilty please,- L.A.B.?

Are the Fullauto heads modeled after the RH10?

The head is probably closer to a 750 head as it uses the 1/2 inch guides. The ports are a more modern high velocity design with raised floors and additional metal in spots where the standard heads were a little thin. Jim

I bolted on an off-the-shelf full auto head to my 750 racer and had *almost* a perfect BEARS championship race season that year (2010), winning every race I entered other than the one time I stalled the bike on the start in the rain at BeaveRun and wobbled home in 2nd (damn!).

When they come back in stock, don't delay.

Thanks Ken, Jim, and Matt.

I suppose after you do the guides, the valves, cut the seats, vapor blast, skim,
do the gas flowing, reassemble ship it out and back, well you are half way there
so might as well bite the bullet and buy new.
Reminds me of the carbs....

What kind of cam would be best suited for the fullauto head?
Curious minds want to know.
CNN

As delivered the fullauto head is designed to maximize the torque in the 4 to 6 thousand RPM range. A Web cam 12 or 12a grind or a megacycle 560-NR or 560-00 work well in this range. The web-cam 12 gives the closest to a stock rpm range.
The 560-00 or the webcam 12a will rev higher at the expense of power at 4000.

There is plenty of material in the head for race porting and big valve conversions also. Jim

I am glad I waited this out, Matt called last Friday and said they are coming and I am at the top of the list. Off to the garage and start building the motor.

Looks like a pair for the Ford Windsor family comes in at $1800 USD. That's a lot of aluminum between the pair. But they are for a much larger market. I myself have a few Windsor engines. And millions more out there.

for a comparison, summit racing sells a comprible set of trickflo heads for $1200.
