For you guys with a Fullauto head here is something you might want to check. I have noticed lately that some of the more recent heads have casting flash in place that effectively blocks the cooling air flow both into and out of the center of the head.

It is not hard to punch it out using a piece of 3/16 rod and a small hammer. It can be done on the bike.

Since I started noticing this I have tried to check any of the heads I have supplied but it wouldn't hurt to make sure I didn't miss any of them.

Here is a picture of a head I am doing right now that has all the holes blocked both front and rear. This one would cause a definite problem. Jim

Yep the factory heads and cylinders have this blockage common too so worth while to have a head and cylinder lap dance poking out and filing down to flow better. Also drill a hole in fin trapping air pocket at V in front of head.

Carefull Jim, I mentioned that my head was a bit on the rough side in a few places & Mr Fullauto got rather pissed off with me. Whilst I am sure we are all very pleased these new heads are available, they are a very expensive premium product, & a little more attention to detail would not go amiss. On the bright side I no longer have any oil stains due to porosity.

Not a problem.

Mr. Cockram has been appraised of the situation and I doubt this will be a concern in the future.

I really believe it is something that should be monitored by the final inspector -that would be me or whoever is retailing
and/or installing the head.
Ken has done a great job of getting this project to fruition and I am very happy with the finished product. I would find it hard to ask more of him. Jim

So we won't be able to start calling him Mr. Fullhotto then.

I guess you could but your teeth may end up looking like Hobots hillbilly pictures. :D

Where would we be without Hobot to set standards for us? I'm still smiling (all teeth intact) about his high tree branch pruning method via 12 gauge shotgun.

Here is what it looks like after the flash is removed. It should be open between the top 4 fins in the front and 2 slots in the back. Jim

I'm terribly sorry about this. Until Jim brought it to my attention, I was blissfully unaware of the problem. My engineer has been told of the problem and it will be dealt with at the point of manufacture. All the heads I have in stock will be sorted before delivery. Thanks Jim!

I love seeing the clever air paths through head everything time I heat it to loosen exht roses I aim the flame into it. So many angles to view and attend to I did my in my lap. Hope the casting flaws get reduced to please everyone. Btw buck teeth are only seen in young dogs and children as those surviving to be known as hicks, hillbillies, red necks are not known for having many, duh. Hm maybe JBW? Naw yuk, no way, use superglue.

Most likely simply time for new core pins in the mould. They get burnt away by the constant flow of molten aluminum.
