Hello!

I have got the front disc brake upgrade kit from rgm…

this is a 12“ floating disc and a grimeca alloy caliper with a bracket to fit the grimeca caliper.

Now here is my question:

do you know another caliper [e.a. brembo 4 piston caliper, nissin ….] for better performance that fits right on that bracket?

If so have you any specifications, order numbers and all the infos that i can order some?

Have a nice day!

chris

It's not the brand of braking components that make the difference, it's the size. The ratio of caliper piston area to master cylinder piston area is the critical component. If you go with the recommendations of Vintage Brake you will be very satisfied.

hey jim and thanks for the reply!

i know this chart and for my caliper best seems to be 11mm mc

i got a 13mm master cylinder and want to change to 11mm.
[bought last year 2 11mm used ones from 2 different sellers on ebay....both were im arsch!]

have you any experience: is there a noticeable difference between 11 and 13mm?

which brake fluid to you use?

have a nice day!

What size caliper are you using? I have a 11mm Grimeca master coupled to a Grimeca 2P caliper, which, IIRC, is 41mm. This gives me the sweet spot of 27:1. It's as good as my twin disc BMW as for stopping power. It matters not what brand of components are used. In fact, if you were to use the same size Brembo components as the stock Norton you would probably end up with the same poor brake. I see some here who get hung up on a Brembo, which is no doubt one of the best around, but if it's not the correct size it won't be worth a damn.

As for fluid, I use DOT 4 with a SS brake line and a floating 12" disc. I probably have around $600 in the setup, including a clutch lever. You'd have to spend a considerable more amount of money to improve upon the front brake I now have. BTW, the Grimeca master I have has a mirror mount, as well. It is from a MZ 250cc Motard, late 90's vintage. I ordered the master cylinder and clutch lever from a MZ dealer.

jim, thanks again. i have also the 2 pistons grimeca caliper as sold by rgm.
and if my memory is right these are 41mm.
so i also will get me a 11mm mc.
