Now that the frame is bare and ready for the paint booth, I've been wondering about colors.
A Guzzi V-11S I had had a red painted frame with black tank and panels. Colorado Norton's website shows a red frame Norton and a silver frame one as well as some black.
The colored frame certainly makes the frame stand out, as opposed to the black, and I'm not so sure that's a good thing.

What say you fellows about alternate frame color??

I'm doing a few refinements on my frame while the engine is down, like support gussets (old britts) on the rear loop and welding in two threaded bungs in the loop to do away with the ineffectual rear fender support that results in cracking the tail lamp fairing. Bolt straight to frame. When done will be stripping the black powder coat and painting silver metallic, to suit the yellow paint on the tins.
I know the purists wont agree but there ain't a lot stock on this bike anyway.

I like a black frame on most all bikes .... the Commando and Griso are both black frames wish my red Duc ST3 had a black frame as well but it is read and disappears with all the red plastics ....

Silver.

Several silver framed bikes in cNw gallery. They look great IMHO.

I wish I’d done mine silver!

The SS clone's frame was silver (Imron) at one time, when it was a green Fastback. Harley used a silver paint on the frames of V-Rods, Brilliant Silver Pearl, that I would use if I were painting a frame silver again. Looks almost like polished nickel

To my eye, a red frame makes a bike look like a kid's toy.

Quite a few bikes have a nickel plated frame, Hesketh comes to mind. I think it would look best with the body work a darker color. I agree with Danno concerning red frames with the possible exception of the Telaio Rosso Guzzis.

I once saw a jap two stroke twin with a day-glow orange/red frame bottom fork sliders and cast wheels –it drew you eye and got your attention

That reminded me of the Ducati 200 Elites, they had a copper colored frame and a red and chrome tank. I thought it was "interesting"

This silver frame, or this black frame with this dark red for the tank/panels?

I did a flat silver frame with subaru wrx blue tank/panels. The bike is not finished yet so there is still pipe insulation covering the frme in spots. I have silver decals to match the frame. I know the tail light assembly on a proddy racer is supposed to match the bodywork, but I thought Id try it in silver also.

I think the bikes in the first production run were all silver frames. I'd moved to Seattle (July 1968) before I noticed any other colors. I've no idea how many were in that first run.

To me, all frames should be black! However, that red with silver does look good!
