I just installed a Vololight LED warning unit on my Combat Commando. The unit installs easily by just connecting the two wires to your license plate/tail light wiring. For positive ground systems like ours, you just reverse the two leads: red wire goes to ground, black wire goes to taillight power.
The Vololight is different from other brake warning systems in that it does NOT need to be connected to the brake switch. Instead, the entire unit (circuitry, and top/bottom rows of LED lights) is built into a stylish license plate frame. The circuitry includes an accelerometer, which detects deceleration (either from just backing off the throttle, downshifting, or harder braking), and causes the LEDs to flash, in increasing frequency the quicker you slow down.
