combat manners

Hi Herbert,

I've been riding my current combat for seven years. The majority of upgrade mods were done during the '97-'98 restoration. It's been very reliable although now needs new piston rings. One thing I didn't do was shorten the pushrods. I believe that was the reason the exhaust valve guides came loose last summer.

Putting a standard head or "detuning" a combat is a sin. If you want this there are many more standard 750s or 850s out there. Changing the gearbox sproket to 21 tooth instead of the 19T originally supplied is acceptable just to make longer rides less buzzy. If you just like the feel of acceleration, leave the 19T.

The two combats I've owned have just a bit more performance than a '73 high compression 750 and '74 850 JPN I've owned.
