Facebook Fodder

Seems some of the bloggers are actually supported by Norton themselves as they show the same links on their website. Also noticed that the 961 and a 500? will be released for sale in India this year according to several automotive sites there.

Wouldn't have expected the release of the 961 in India to be honest, although as you say Mn there are Indian articles detailing this as occurring later in 2024. Some of those articles also detail a 500cc model (showing a picture of the Atlas), the V4 and the Dominator!? One also mentions the 961 being assembled in India in the future. So who knows what’s wheat and what’s chaff! I suspect mainly the latter but who knows.

I think we’d all expect TVS to produce and badge smaller capacity Norton machines for their markets and others like it - there’s a reason they only produce small capacity machines currently I suppose. The ‘prestige’ bikes manufactured in Solihull for domestic and western markets? No doubt there’ll be some crossover though.

Interesting times ahead regardless, whichever way it pans out.

Papa Smurfs latest VLOG on Norton 961 used bike prices. Worth a look if you’re UK based and certainly if you are looking to pick one up. UK prices are gonna shift I guess, depending on how many Solihull eventually produce.

The outcomes overseas will be quite different I guess. In Aus for example, limited numbers were imported and with zero likelihood of exported Solihull 961’s, that will obviously reduce opportunity to own a 961 in the future. I see most of these bikes eventually resting with an owner that sees it as a keeper, if that’s not the case already. Likely to make them hens teeth IMO.

I’m guessing this comes under the ‘fodder’ banner🤣!

Old vid - some will have seen it but some not. I’m no SG/SS fan (who is?), but I thank them both for this truly magnificent machine! The most aggressive, purposeful Norton ever built? That’s a big yes in my opinion! It literally ‘flips the bird’ 🖕 to modern sports bikes and rudimentary retros alike. Ya gotta love that if you’re a Norton enthusiast!

The fact that this growler exists at all in today’s regulatory environment is as remarkable as the sound it emits. If I could have any bike available in my garage, I would choose this! As they say in France, it’s the dogs bollox mate!

Jamie Robinson, ex GP/TT racer and top bloke.

Watch to the very end - does he drop it?!!

Latest from Papa Smurf. Nothing new here for us but good to see that he’s getting the word out. He’s a bit short of the mark with Donington 961 spares though.

Old vid - never seen it before. Gotta love the only audible spoken words in it are “f#@!n yeh!”, as he starts her up! 🤣

The Domiracer - epic!

Very different market in India to state the bleedin’ obvious. Given how nuts the Indians are for the classic look, not difficult to see what they are likely to do with the Norton branding @ their Honsur facility.

That said, going the other direction with some offerings at the Bharat show - more contemporary. Guess they’re big enough to do both, given the breadth of the market.

Not interested in their local market offerings (other than what they might stick a Norton badge on) but their success is important to Norton’s story. Let’s hope it continues.

The majority of more recent Norton reviews/VLOGS are contained in this thread - might be worth keeping them in one spot rather than raising new threads. My thoughts only.

Beholden to the dealer - a little maybe (they often are), but it’s obvious that he genuinly rates the machine and the riding experience, which is what it’s all about.

Some valid points made in the YouTube comments, for and against - with the usual smattering of detractors spouting the usual stuff, without ever having been near one (modern Triumph in their garage mostly). There’s room for both awesome machines of course👍!

Nice bloke....he told me at the Bikeshed show last year, that my Domi was the bike of the show for him

Yes, I know the bike well. I first worked on it whilst at the factory. Came to me after going to two Norton dealers for an in-op speedo....they'd sold him parts but not fixed anything. Found a break in the signal wire. The original owner was over the moon, and loved the bike to bits. Unfortunately whilst riding another bike, he was struck by a hit and run driver, and lost his left leg. All his other bikes could be converted so he could continue riding....wasn't possible with the 961, so he had to sell it. It was then owned by a guy called Mike, who did a few track days on it....and now it's with Jonathan.
Originally the bike had a colour coded headlamp and mudguard.

Could do with you breathing on my old girl Stu (that doesn’t sound quite right:oops:!), she’s started playing up for the first time in years - some beers’n’fettling to be done methinks! Great to see Jonathon having the confidence in his Mk1 to do such trips - good on him!

If I were in the UK I’d be taking such a trip to a certain island racetrack very shortly - can’t even get coverage on the TV over here!!

Keep up the Dommie pics!👍

I’d love to Tony, but already booked for a trip to Japan/Hawaii for she who must be obeyed’s big 60th birthday. No way I’m squeezin’ in a jaunt to the UK as well!

Live streaming on ‘TT Plus’ is the closest I’m gonna get; only way to watch the TT as I understand it. You’d think Kayo would pick it up.

Why don't you use handlebar end weights ? The diameter works for this , which I have done . I still had to replace the footpegs entirely though with the vibration isolating rubber footpad type.
Hi, What footpegs did you use to combat the vibration, and did it work?

I found some on ebay (china made ) . They are copies of BMW F650 foot pegs. I'll try to find the link to them again. No modiification needs to be made to the bike., but you need to do some filing on the peg pivot hole to make these work. The pegs have the soft rubber pads and they worked for me are worth a try in my opinion. . When you fit them it should be obvious what you need to do with the rat tail file. You will need slightly longer 6mm pivot pins available erom Mcmaster Carr or similar supplier along with new e-clips . If you have questions just ask .

look at these :
