Hi all.
I'm looking for non linked exhausts and peashooter silencer supplier recommendations .
All to suit my Mk3 850.

Hopefully someone can put me into that rarest of things. Something that fits and works straight out of the box.

I'm not a big fan of stainless but could consider it if someone convinced me otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

Good question! I do know there are a lot about I don’t want to spend my money on, so am also interested in good recommendations.

Pete,
I've used Commando Specialties down pipes for a mk 3 in the past (although I've now gone back to original)
they have the correct flange to mate up with the mk3 collets etc.
OK, they have to be imported from USA but they fit and work properly.
Pea shooters I've had from a few places, but on ebay BSA 111 has decent British made ones.
cheers
sam

I have Viking headers sourced directly from Viking and peashooter style silencers from CNW. Perfect fit if a bit expensive. After three sets of non fitting headers purchased from Old Britts Fred suggested going directly to Viking if I didn't mind spending the coin. Fred was having trouble getting correctly bent pipes or well chromed units from AN hence the recommendation.

Hi Pete, it's Martin here. We met at George's rally this year. I was on the Norton with my wife.
I personally like the peashooters than Andover Norton sell. They are well made, nicely chromed and have 3 rows (I think), of reverse flutes running down the centre pipe which give the Norton the fantastic (of the period) howl when it's on over-run on anything above about 3,000 rpm. This is I believe how they used to be made at the factory. ( I stand to be corrected)? They are straight throughs as well.

When I fitted mine, I kept dropping down a gear on the over-run to listen to the beautiful noise that they made.
I can't say if they are any better made for longevity than others on the market and they aren't all that cheap, but I really like them.

I got some down pipes from Commando Specialties in the USA like Sam, again not cheap, but they make them unbalanced to clear the drain plug on the primary chain case on the Mk3. The pair I got were very long where they go into the silencer, and I had to cut at least 4 or 5" from this part, which wasn't a big problem. On mine they were a tight fit on the silencer and I did dislodge a bit of chrome from the down-pipes as I twisted the pipes out of the silencers whilst sorting the fitment out. There may be others available, see what people come up with.

I have stainless pea shooters from Rgm they are very good
I also have a stainless pair of pea shooters that I believe came from armours that have baffled plates inside like an annular discharge silencer but these are on my t160
I had a pair of stainless down pipes but they continuly broke inside the exhaust rose ,I was forether re welding them
I once bought a £60 pair of chromed!! Pea shooters from eBay they were rubbish

I have AN non-crossover pipes. DS fits fine. TS not so much. I spaced it out with washers and it is secure but it seems to beat the rubbers to
death in a few thousand miles.
Silencers are AN marked on the ends. They look fine, and as mentioned LOUD. When passing someone at 55oo rpm and up, you can break
their windows and or make them deaf. Around town you can actually go easy and they are quiet.
AN now has cross over pipes on offer. No clue if they are good or bad.

Like Martin, I have the Commando specialties down pipes fitted. Expensive as they are from the states, but they fit well and come overlength so you can cut them down to suit the silencers you want to fit. If you have access to turning facility's, try and get some thinner conical seatings and collets turned up. This will allow the exhaust rings to screw further into the head. The MK3 is the worst in this aspect as the standard arrangement only provides three or four threads engagement.

The last set I bought for a 72 Combat came from Wassel and the quality was shocking good. The only thing I don't like is that the silencers do not have baffles and are ridiculously loud. As with many things, there's no telling where they were made and might well be the same as others.

I have a feeling the silencers I bought are the same manufacturer as yours.

I have a pair of Andover Norton front pipes in chrome and they do fit the MK 3 very well. Just enough clearance for the primary drain plug and would certainly buy the same again when they need replacing.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
I checked out the Commando Specialities pipes on eBay and was surprised that they are manufactured over here by LF Harris.
While looking around I came across these from Feked

A bit late to the party, but I really like the mirror polished stainless steel silencers and exhaust pipes from Armour's in Bournemouth.
Unlike many silencers, these are seamless where the rear cone attaches, which I like.
Also, you don't need ugly clips to secure the silencers to the exhaust pipes.

Do your silencers have baffles fitted? Or perforated tube etc?

I've just taken a peek down the silencers, and it looks like perforated tube to me.
Ok cheers
The pair I have that I believe are from armours have the welds ground smooth and integral sileocer to downpipe clamps
But no perforated tube they have off set plates with holes in

They look lovely but how do you, or even can you, stop them going a straw colour?

Not much you can do about the straw colour
You can run a TIG brush over them every now and then to make them as good as chrome

I got through two pairs of stainless downpipes, sourced via the NOC around 1998–2000, both times they cracked near the exhaust port. I suspect they failed because I didn't pay close enough attention to the order in which I did things when fitting them – I hadn't had my bike long then. But nothing like it's ever happened before or since with regular downpipes. So caveat emptor, or something. p.s. I quite liked the straw colour!

i have s type exhausts and the left header has broken at the rose twice now this year , the first time it fell in half , bought a new one and that failed but i got it tig welded , is there a special way to fit them ???
